Saturday I left work at 4pm, like a normal Saturday. I activated the alarm and stepped outside. When I turned back to lock the door, I was having an immense amount of trouble. The key would go into the lock and turn, but not turn enough to actually do any good. I tried for about 5 minutes, and Jhay had to get out of the...

That certainly was a mini adventure. At least you know your boss and co-workers care enough about you to be worried.

hmmm, birthday is 3 weeks after your next set goes into MR. Maybe you'll go pink as a birthday present smile

Enough about Star Trek, here's a new post.

My birthday is officially in less than a month now. (June 14, for those of you keeping score.)

I'm not sure what I want to do for it.

Obviously I want to do something fun, because fun is awesome, but there are a few limiting factors:
1. Money. Both Jhay and I are completely broke, and...

On Saturday I saw the new Star trek movie. It was truly awesome. (This review is spoiler-free, so no worries people that haven't seen it yet.)

It had all the components for a great movie:

  • time travel and alternate realites

  • explosions

  • inter-racial (inter-species) love

  • catch phrases

  • aliens

  • Leonard Nimoy

  • and more!

You don't even have to be a fan of the original series - or...

I'll admit I had no interest at all in seeing this movie. I haven't been a fan of anything Star Trek in decades. But I swear just about everyone I know who's seen it has loved it. Not just enjoyed it or liked it but LOVED it. Hell even Wesley Crusher himself Wil Wheaton is raving about it. So now I'm sold, I'll have to go see it soon, maybe this weekend. Hey I just remembered I still have a free movie coupon smile

I also had no interest in seeing Wolverine and it would appear I made the right call on that one. Here's hoping they make a true Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds but I'm not holding out hope.

It really is the best picture to come out of a horrible thread!

One of the things I will miss about Michigan are the storms. There are some spectacular thunderstorms here. I've never experienced any damage from them, but if you read the news a bit you will see that some people unfortunately have. I just look at the clouds.

These pictures were taken on the way to the grocery store yesterday about 1/2 mile from our apartment...

It probably should have been scarier than it was. lol It happened so quickly without warning and was over immediately (no delay between lightning & thunder when you're that close) I don't think there was time for it to scare you. It was fun watching people standing on their porches and balconies a few moments later all staring at each other asking "what the hell was that?" lol

I had another time I was even closer to a lightning strike. It was ages ago when I still lived with my parents and they lived in a mobile home. My dad was playing around with short wave radios at that time and had a 40 foot antenna sticking up from the side of the house. The wall it was attached to was from my bedroom. In the middle of the night we had a bolt hit the antenna. The whole place shook like an etch-a-sketch being erased. Woke up pretty quickly let me tell you. lol

The next morning I looked at the antenna and you could see burn and scorch marks when it was grounded. The antenna was about 3 feet from the foot of my bed.

Part of my cat's job of being Cat is bug patrol. He is supposed to track down any insects that make it into the house and either eat them or alert us to their presence so we Jhay can take care of them. This all started when I lived in CA and a cockroach snuck into the house via one of our moving boxes. When...

Ok, enough with that least blog. It was boring and kinda depressing. You can still buy stuff from my etsy store. If you need references, just ask Donner and Foolish_Hyena, who have both purchased multiple items from me in the last week.

So there's less than a month left until my next set goes into member review (on May 25). Here...

I will try to get a photo to show you the whole thing, but it's hard because someone else has to take the picture because it's on my back. And I have no one to do it for me. frown

Another picture blog!

Sunday Jhay and I went to the MetroPark beach, which even though it is only a few miles from our place, I had never been to. It's on the shores of Lake St. Clair, which is an "unofficial" Great Lake. Apparently it's still really big and deep like the real Great Lakes, but for some reason didn't make the cut.

Get ready...

Friday night was Jhay's 33rd bday. We went about 1/2 mile away to Roosevelts, which is a yummy restaurant / bar / pool hall. There wasn't a big turnout - it was me, Jhay, Jhay's buddy Zach, our good buddy onintaki, Oni's cousin, and Oni's cousin's boyfriend. Last time we were there, we befriended a cute little waiter named Lucas. I call him...

The way things are going, I hope I can renew my membership when the time comes. That would be the beginning of July. SG has become increasingly vital to me, so renewing is a priority.

I think you'll like Asheville. I hope I can drop up and meet you at some point. Meanwhile I'll keep my ears pricked for jobs and such!
