That's okay, you're saying quite a lot. Thank you, my friend.
cptpyjama:
The newest series of Doctor Who is the best one yet biggrin

You are of course my favourite smile

And I am generally doing very well; I have friends, like an actual social group, and I've never had a real one of them before, so it is very exciting.

I'm glad to hear you're on the mend, strokes are scary things :/ here's me wishing for you to be happy and healthy in the future.

Note: I posted this journal a year ago when I was phroggmoulis, which, apparently I still am(?) surreal Anyway...

My mother had finished her classes for the semester at Belhaven College and was preparing for final exams in the coming week. Her brother was working on a business correspondence course and getting ready for band practice. His days were divided between his job at Pilot...

This is the only poem I have on hurricanes. I have "country cousins" all over south Mississippi. They got slammed in '69 by Camille, and they got slammed again in '79 by Frederick. Looks like they've gotten slammed again. I heard stories of Frederick and the aftermath.

This was an assignment for a college class - hence the meter and rhyme scheme.

Frederick Came By...

Not to hi-jack your post, but...well yeh...I am going to. smile

Sounds like you and your sister have some pretty interesting conversations. My brothers have absolutely no interest in that kind of conversation, mores the pity.

You're absolutely right about the power thing. But I still don't understand it. What is the point of attempting to deny the beauty of the male form? Granted, its a very vocal way to try and empower one sex by bringing the other down, but really, who benefits from that kind of thing? I find it so frustrating that people can think that way.

It didn't really occur to me that the whole 'no penis' thing could stem from anger. But the more I think about it, the more logical it seems and I think that that anger is also connected to the whole power issue. I have no idea why I didn't see it before. Still seems like a ridiculously passive-agressive way to express it, in my ever-so humble opinion. And its particularly strange on those occasions when this kind of comment comes from the very same people who will happily drool over male celebrities. Ahh...the female mind, I'll never understand it - and I am one!

Anyhow, there's nothing wrong with cerebral conversations about penises. Even if it is with someone from another continent. I can understand Bush giving you the desire to move here - but really, who needs an excuse to want to live here? Its brilliant. wink

PS Ghost World - wow, I'd almost forgotten about that movie. It was brilliant. I must watch it again sometime soon. Thanks for the reminder!

Dudes, our band opened for the Beach Boys last night!!! Now come on, you know that's cool, that's over the top cool. You also know that you can sing the lyrics to all of their songs and can't help but start dancing to them. That is something that goes on our resume, for sure. Also there was Dean Torrence from Jan and Dean. We had...

Our Caribbean band played this morning in Asheville (Arden, really) at the grand opening of the World Market. There was a nice fresh breeze blowing through the Swannanoa Valley that was most pleasant. The World Market seems like a really cool place to look for strange stuff. Please nobody tell me they use Indonesian slave labor or something - I would be bummed. Something tells...

It's too bad I'm so video-impaired... no web cam or photos... cause this should be shared. What a gorgeous hunk of geezer!!!

ok...this place looks like it may go somewheres special. i'm mainly intrigued...and wondering...if you are really a typing cat (as the picture suggests)? it would explain a lot about the nakedness. but then I would begin to question the robe? seems like a very immobile piece of hosiery for a feline to wearthat is unless it were a cat sized robe. tailored perhaps? ok, now im scaring myself eeek

Tonight we went to the local "Cindy Sheehan" anti-war vigil at the Federal Building. It was a pretty good turnout, we thought, for our little southern city. Some of the relatives of KIA's in Iraq were there. I wasn't really in the "mood" to do this tonight, but I decided if nothing else I should exercise my right to protest, peacefully. Having gone, I'm glad...

A "BOUNTY"? That sounds horrible--hahahaha--"Fresh meat, y'all!"

I've always marveled at that Nixon story--the very thought of the president coming face-to-face with random protesters in the middle of the night is astonishing to me. Am I too young to remember the pre-9/11 state of things? Or have I just gotten that used to it? I remember airports before then . . . But in today's climate of constant fear, I just can't imagine any president doing something that, ever. Strange.

Thirty days exactly now until we board our flight for England and Ireland. K is busily booking lodging, cars for hire and "trip protector" if the event we had to cancel.

School starts next Monday but I am anxious to get over there, look at the new facility and grab 2-3 teachers so I can map out at least the first part of the school...

Trying to be somewhat disciplined about this journal thing.

I woke up this morning with Hammerhead. I won't be going to Atlanta after all. My sinuses had been behaving themselves for most of the summer until this week. I'm allergic to weather.

But I'm no hot house baby! Last night our Caribbean band played to a big crowd at a community concert nearby in Seneca....

Lightning bolt hit near our house on Tues. afternoon so have been mostly offline since then. Our cable modem has gone squirrely - no DHCP or IP assignments for my upstairs computer. Tonight I finally bit the bullett and signed up for a 3 month trial of MSN - I'm back on dial-up!!! Wierdest feeling. I'm flashing back to the mid- Nineties! Gawd! Well, it...

Just saw a most interesting program on History Channel about "Dragons"; all world cultures have dragon mythology with striking similarities, etc. Several scientists had hypotheses on how this developed, e.g. finding dino bones, primeval fears of the dark, of methane fires, of the unknown. Some were fairly plausible. What they barely touched on was the "dragon" within, the Archetype. No one mentioned the Kundalini, for...
