Well.. I've just come back from seeing Grinderman (Nick Cave et al) playing live in-store at HMV London Oxford Circus for free!
Fucking astounding performance!!!
The sound was excellent, and Nick Cave was on top form. This is some of the strongest material Nick Cave and pals have done in years. The album is amazing, and I love the attention to detail. Even though the sound is very stripped down at times, every tiny piece of gritty distortion, and every bang of the drum has been considered. As any music maker knows, it's often harder to do something bare than something layered.
Shitty pics from my shitty camera coming later...
Edit:
Here are some photos from the gig. I quite like these... not so shitty
My camera was a top of the line consumer/pro borderline model back in 1999. It's a Fuji FinePix 6900, which is like a hybrid SLR all in one shell. It's done me good over the years, but is a bit of a Dinosaur now. Depending on the photographic situation depends on how good the results are really. But I try and get the best out of it.
I'd like to be able to get a Canon EOS 400D at some point to replace it. Getting a Holga soon, and a Victorian Box Brownie!!
So, yeah, anyway... I was quite far back in the store, so I was basically pointing and shooting with full zoom on, and when it's on full zoom it's no longer in optical range, so you get a lot of digital noise. Still, considering I thought the shots I got were rubbish from the little preview screen on the camera, they aren't too bad.
Damn head in the way ^ ^ ^ grrr.
