it is hallowe'en and I am preparing my costume. I will be Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hopefully there will be pictures.

Before I go on, there are some new people on my friends list. They should know that normally I am totally hep and even keeled and nothing fazes me. Cool yet personable, with a side order of light snarkiness. There's some emo posting about to come up, however. It is not the real me.

If you flip back to the posts of July 15, 20, and 24 you can fill yourself in on the details. The short version is D. liked a girl at his workplace, but she had a boyfriend and when his company transferred him to England she moved with him. (If you go back to those posts, you can also see me with long hair).

On Tuesday word came through her best work-friend that she had gotten married in New York the previous week, with zero notice to anyone not in the family. We were all a little taken aback. Then yesterday out of nowhere she flew in and came to visit all of us.

I want you all to know that even though the marriage thing was kind of a surprise, I handled the entire thing with dignity and poise. I ran into the elevator and hid until she had gone.

Actually, though, I didn't wait long enough, and when I went back to my desk she was there waiting for me. I was still OK, though, and did not do or say anything foolish. Maybe a little quiet, and I didn't say "congratulations" (neither of which she would have picked up on, I think).

Since no one not from the internet knows, I have lost no face and am not vulnerable except to myself. But I still feel like a loser. Not loser as in pathetic and dumb, but loser as in "the one that doesn't win".

You are all required to back me up on idea that she never would have done this had she known of my feelings. smile

Your twenty were some of the best I've seen. Between you and ShaunoftheDead I was highly entertained.

And yes... it's probably who you thought it was. Not only was he extremely rude but frankly the things he wrote in my journal made my skin crawl. To think that people actually believe that kind of tripe makes me sick.

I want to see pictures of you as Spike. love

Do you have paralegals/legal assistants in Canada?

I'm, seriously, thinking of moving to Ontario someday and have been for a while, but I suspect I may have to go back to school to learn Canadian law and contracts. Bleh. tongue
