U2 are playing four shows this week in Toronto. And on the day of the first one I decided that I would like to see them sometime and that there was no time like the present. Normally I have very good luck waiting around the venue until the opening band is playing or finished, and picking up decently priced tickets from scalpers getting desperate to...

5'10" actually... Is that tall?

freakpirate:
Wow. I always pictured you taller than that.

It's probably a sign of how old and pathetic I am that I am excited that I get to organize a charity Scrabble tournament at work. I'm also really excited that the new Scrabble 4th edition dictionary containts the words ZA and QI

Which is all pretty frown when you think about it.

If there were pictures I would post them. Too bad that camera's were not allowed. frown

my ipod was on shuffle and it played "do the manta ray" by the Pixies, then 'sea ghost' by the Unicorns. That's two songs in a row about mythological creatures, sung by bands named after mythological creatures, in a row.

The world is probably going to come to an end or sumthin.

I'm trying to think of other songs/bands like that. Hmm...

I was walking down the street, and I saw flyers posted to telephone poles and streetlamps looking for, of all things, egg donors. I'm gonna take a picture when it's light out tomorrow.

Richard Simmons on Larry King Live last night, on the damage in New Orleans from the broken levee: "New Orleans is so culturally important. It's like the Venice, Italy of...of the world,...

Make it stop,

Between you and Abbie's suggestions for site addresses I just might...

Yeah, that's the phrase I was groping for.

i think if a city is going to be completely wiped out by a hurricane, it should be completely destroyed and submerged until the only signs are ripples on the otherwise calm lake. I mean, it's wrecked anyway, so it would be cool to see it completely destroyed.
chris_sick:
I could berate you for your indifference to other's tragedy, but let's face it, that's not really my style.

Today I saw video footage of a fire burning underwater, the flames rose to the surface and were surrounded by bubbles from the boilding of the water. That was eerie.

And about the Pepsi logo,

you don't think we can do better than that?
chris_sick:
I got what you were saying, I think possibly it just came off as a touch insensitive, but that's why I was chiding you, for how it came off, not what you meant.

Meanwhile, more site details on the journal, please give thoughts/feedback.

I saw Tori Amos last night at the Molson Amphitheatre. She was excellent, but probably disappointed a lot of casual fans by leaving out crucify, God, and Cornflake girl. On the other hand, she was obviously aware that she was playing in Canada, because she covered if you could read my mind and both sides now. The venue was less than half full, although...

Know what would be fun? Running around to people's the empty journal's who aren't on my frineds list and writing "there are no comments for this journal entry." Because it would be grey, so it would look just like the regular message, but with 'dholokhov says' above.

Every summer I like to judge the Toronto Life summer fiction issue against the New Yorker summer fiction...

OK so I got my foot checked out and they have no idea what is wrong with it. The doctor said it looks a little like gout, but I have very few of the lifestyle issues associated with it, I have average uric acid levels, and I'm not, like, 80 years old. On the plus side, it's almost completely gone away, so he said not...

Go listen to the jazz pop version of Time After Time recorded by Tuck & Patti for their 1988 album Tears of Joy. Do it now. Steal it from the record store if you must.

Replacement roommate for guy who was going to move in Sept. 1 bailed! It's not that no one wants to live here, it's just that they keep backing out after they agree, which has cost a total of 12 days that I could have been showing the place, and $80 for having to replace the ad after cancelling it. I now have exactly 14 days...

Every time I take some time off work something bad happens to my body. In december, I booked a week off and had a flu for four days of it.

So I was going to go to Ottawa on Saturday to see my parents and stay until Wednesday. But when the new roommate bailed I had to stay in town to find a new one...

That's a possibility, but one I strongly doubt since many of the hardest abusers I know have either paused to take stock or have all sorts of fun medical benifits and tests and things that tell them they're fine. Sure, as a group, we're statistically more likely to have more scar tissue than anyone else, but we do all right otherwise. I just got my first cold in two years. I think your body has a thresehold for abuse, and when you yourself make every effort to met and exceed that thresehold than your body just works double-time to keep everything else the hell out of the way, since the quota's already been filled. But what do I know, I'm drunk all the damn time....

I'm like... three blocks from the Jane and Finch mall. So pretty much any time you see "X Street and Finch" on the news in connection with some kind of shooting I can probably walk there.

Lucy and I are hoping to be able to find a nice cheap place somewhere less dangerous in the future.

freakpirate:
Yeah... I know where at least one drug dealer here lives. He's in one of the townhouses in the complex we're in. It's a little... bothersome.

Once you get past Keele on Finch it's pretty nice. Everything past Bathurst actually looks a lot like Fort McMurray (where I'm from). I wouldn't mind moving a bit more that way. But once you get to Finch/Sentinal, Finch/Jane, etc... it's just shit.
