100 years from now, I bet that no one will readily believe that man walked the moon before VCR's were common household items.

Interesting news on the Flea front.

Things are progressing nicely with respect to me expressing to a company in TO that I might like to work for them, and them expressing at least some interest in potentially employing me.

If things pan out (I'm going back for another interview this week), it could really facilitate the LONG-overdue Superflea/Dholokhov Summit on Beer and Popular Culture.

that's what i was going off of yeah, the expression 'reap the fruit of' that i have heard parrotted a few times. though yr comment made me pause and be like, yeah, that's not the right word to use. but language is built communally, right? so if enough people say its reap, then it's reap.

haha don't worry. i do the same thing. most of the new bands i found out about, are through interviews, that's kind of why they are there. enjoy the atmos.

I demand to speak to someone in charge!
_sarah_:
Um, hello? You live in the Great White North. I cannot believe this comes as a surprise occurrence. wink
robotsatemyhair:
Snow! Love it! I rarely see it.

Alas.

Best video to ever use the Toronto subway. And SAndy Horne is/was the cutest bass player in the world.

(10 dholokov points if you knew what you were clicking on before it loaded).

weekend update: by sheer coincidence (especially after like two decades), they have a LIVE CONCERT ALBUM BEING RELEASED IN TWO WEEKS!! dholokov is happy in a dorky, non-ironic kind of way! Pre-ordering...

I am saddened that Toronto Life will no longer publish a summer fiction issue. Now normally Toronto Life is a yuppie rag filled with articles about people dholokov does not know and about things which dholokov cannot afford. But their summer fiction issue was really good and rivalled even the New Yorker (especially when the latter published works of fiction written by its attractive young...

They did? Who are these strange people?

re: me joining the Eastern Canada group

Yeah, I tried. They rejected me. No surprise, not enough friends.

I'll be at the SFX show Saturday, gothed out with my hair dyed red and a black box coat on (Dark City style coat). If the hair dye takes that is.

I posted the show in the Science Fiction group but something inexplicable happened to my event. Dunno.

I am upset at the amount of police presence for Caribana, Toronto's annual black/Jamacian festival. Friday there were cops everywhere along Yonge St. They certainly didn't have that many uniformed officers on hand for the Gay Pride March. (not that they weren't in evidence, just not so much). The only conclusion that one can draw is that the police consider North Amercia's largest party...

I think you are officially old when you realize what a great song "It's different for girls" by Joe Jackson is and how you could listen to it on repeat for hours.

Liking Joe Jackson at all is a sign of age. To wit, I only recently purchased my first JJ album, Look Sharp.

The NIN and bauhaus show was nifty. Despite the fact that I have been to that concert venue several times in the last few years, I took the wrong streetcar and missed almost all of bauhaus. On the other hand, it was kind of neat because the venue is set on some fairly desolate waterfront property, and because I took the wrong streetcar I walked...

just to keep up on the always going to concerts thingy, I got a ticket for NIN and bauhaus on Saturday.

also, apparently, "I still like you and I'd like to keep dating you but take things more slowly; i feel like I need more 'me' time" means "I don't want you around anymore". Even more embarrassing, everyone else learned this at the age of...

Third in an uninterrupted series of "concerts I just went to" updates. On Saturday night I saw cellist zoe keating. She is really neat and sounds like the instrumental stuff from Berlin era Bowie, but played on cello. Live she uses super-nifty little loops so that she is able to layer her sound while still playing everything herself.

Because I had 23 days of vacation...

Bel Biv DeVoe, circa 1990.

As my division of the mighty Thomson juggernaut has been in denial of being part of Thomson since the merger 10 years ago, we don't hear much about the Royal Family.

I was very surprised to hear the old man was still lucid & active...I always thought he looked like Mr. Burns and spent his time silently in a wheelchair, only to leer & grab at his nurse occasionally.
