Friday night my mom drives us to a family Christmas party in Rosarito.


We have an amazing weekend. Everyone leaves on Sunday.


With no money and no car, we decide to stay. We are either spontaneous or stupid.

Wednesday, we get a ride. 3 hours north, back to the US.

6 hours on the Amtrak, up the coast, back home.

Adding food coloring to white frosting isn't cheating! That's old skool. Busia (grandma) did that all the time. Her sugar cookies were homemade, though.

It's okay. I didn't have much time to bake for the party this weekend, so the Nestle Toll House cookies were those freezer squares. Shhh.

The snow is wonderful, but I hate scraping ice off my car. Still, I can't imagine living in a state that didn't have four seasons. I love the dark, cold nights of winter. It's pure magic when the streetlights reflect on the snow.
