Man, I hate my home town.

I had to go back yesterday to pick my sister up from school because her car was broken and my parents were out of town. In the parking lot at the high school I saw one girl driving a new Mazda 6, another girl driving a Mercedes, assorted Mustangs, and a bunch of brand new SUVs. People in Alpharetta have more money than sense.

Also, every time I go back there is more land cleared. There is already a strip mall about every mile, why the hell does there need to be more? And there are more townhomes than there is room for in the schools. And on top of that, the roads have not been improved since they were built in the early 50s, so they are handling at least 10 times the traffic they were designed to.

I am one of the few who was actually born there, and I remember when the town was all woods and cow pastures, and we had to drive to Roswell (10-15 miles away) to go to a Kroger.

Now that town is the embodiment of overdeveloped suburbs. Did I mention I hate my home town?

Don't even get me started on the city where I lived when I was in high school. (My previous hometown was wonderful...feh).

At first glance, it's a small, quaint town. whatever

They didn't allow teenagers to sit on the park benches lining Main St, even if we were wearing varsity jackets and eating ice cream cones. We'd get tickets for loitering.

The city has a mandatory Alpine theme, and they wouldn't let a massage therapist open his practice because it was considered "seedy".

They practically run people out of town if they aren't Christian. It's so close-minded I can feel it pressing in on me when I visit. The only reason I go back is because my parents, brother, and sister-in-law live there, and I can't stand to be there longer than three days.

I ran away the second I graduated. tongue
