good news:
kill bill paper finished! huttah!
bad news: lit professor dropped a "suprise! your research paper and oral ppresentation are now due this thursday, not next tuesday." plus i didn't have my introduction written yet in class today, and turns out it was due. and i just started researching today, but it seems no one who has ever written on james baldwin has done a similar thesis to mine. this is both good and bad for my grade, good becasue it will be hardcore original and well backed up by the novel, bad because i so far have, out of an 8 book bibliography, 1 book with 1 useful chaptr with 1 useful quote. this wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't a research paper! how can i possibly support my thesis (involving religious aspects) with research when it seems everyone else who has ever written on it writes on the racial aspects (something i am doing too, but i'm tying it in with the religious stuff) or the homosexual aspects (also doing, tying into religious theme, the homosexual aspects commonly written about involve self knowledge, not religion or even self realization)???
gah this is annoying. if i can make it through tomorrow, i will be ok...

once i read "The Fire Next Time" by Baldwin. i really liked it and still consider it to be one of the most well-written things i've read. my favorite part is when he talks about preaching, describing "the power and the glory" of it--it seems that while he himself had some trouble with his faith, he always found himself filled with a tremendous energy when addressing his congregation and would surrender totally to the task at hand, bending his will to deliver sermons worthy of the most impassioned zealot. Given the content of Graham Greene's novel "The Power and the Glory", I'd wager that one work borrowed the phrase from the other.
Finals smoke pole.
Take it easy.
Gimme a holler if you wanna go get drunk sometime when all the shit's over.
