Hey there, sorry I haven't been around in a few days. Regarding your post, I agree that there is plenty of blame to go around. I just wish Bush and his supporters would acknowledge that he deserves some of it (or, in my opinion, the lion's share of it).
As for the buses, the story I have heard is that the ones in question actually had been already used in the evacuation to the extent that they were useful, and had been returned to the bus yard where they were photographed. I can believe this, because there were only a few hundred of them and there were still something like a hundred thousand people or more left in the city - they might have been able to evacuate a few thousand people at a time with those buses at the most, and it's not like they had a whole lot of time to work with. The bottom line is that the federal government is supposed to assume a leadership role in disasters like this, and it was unprepared and/or unwilling to do so under Bush's leadership. That's separate from the fact that this disaster would likely have been nowhere near as bad if Bush and his party had redirected some of the money that they spended building trophy bridges in Alaska, and made a priority out of doing needed work to the levees instead.
