If you look at the methodology of the polls you usually see, they over measure Democrats by 9-11%, and the lead is not that big. Also, the polls use "registered voters," as opposed to "likely voters."

BHO's lead is still very small.

Also, the polls usually overestimate the incumbent's lead by 2%.

Sure, he could win.
pascipio:
The point of the polls released by the media is to depress GOP votes.

I thought I'd post a few of my favorite songs from 2011. Yes, it's heavy on stuff from SiriusXMU. That station is the shit, even if they do associate themselves with a ton of dodgy indie hipster blogs. I want to punch out that guy from Hipster Runoff.

It's damn near BCS bowl time. Let's go 'eers! And Roll Tide!

I have good journals, naughty journals, travel journals, photo journals, and now even the mother of all journals. like you, except for the photo journals, I never go back and read what I wrote. Maybe one day, maybe they'll be burned.

I like putting them in nice notebooks or albums with acid free paper so that I can write or draw around them. One project I plan on doing is printing all those pics I've been meaning to for ages and putting them in the giant new journal mentioned earlier. I'd like to draw out a family tree and make it a mix of everything from family, to travels, to little notes, momentos, etc. Will have to snap a pic of the "heirloom" book to show you. It's really cool. It is made of a beautiful blue embossed leather with rough edged parchment type archival paper. I watched it all year until finally it went on major sale around my birthday a couple of years ago and I snapped it up. It's big enough to fit a lifetime in it. One day I'd like to make a stand for it like the kind used for giant dictionaries, but who knows?

What kind of journals do you like? Mostly I like either thin lined or unlined paper, leatherbound with a wrap around string. They just feel so Indiana Jones. But moleskins are good for carrying around. I'm not into the ones with dates on them where you have a certain amount of space to write for that day. Too structured for me.

Yer bad, DeadBilly. You're also a machine when it sourcing info and articles. For this I thank you. You know I love reading different perspectives, left, right, middle, out there. It's all good.

Here's to seeing you around this place in 2012. smile

Thanks pal! My Christmas is going well. It's funny how late season NFL football is sometimes...I was a Giants fan yesterday since we needed the Jets to lose. I'm worried about new year's day against the Ravens though...fingers crossed!
ckdexterhaven:
Good Christmas to you and yours. Maybe Santa gave you an IOU for an Obama election loss in November.

I don't think I've ever seen a fan video match a song so well. This song always sounded like it'd be in a French film where a wide-eyed young woman strolls around Paris. I always imagined Audrey Hepburn, but Jean Seberg is just as good. Both have that magical gamine quality.

I guess the Raiders didn't win. or something. The Silver and Black attack is on hiatus until... never.

What a groovy vibe.

My guitar? Oh, it's just a cheapie Yamaha I got at the gee-tar store near my house. It is not the very cheapest but the second to the cheapest one they had.
ckdexterhaven:
I swear, that album sounds like it was recorded in some alternate universe. Love it. Another one like that by Chilton: Like Flies on Sherbert. Except, while Third sounds like it's tittering on disaster, Flies just drives the car off of a cliff.

(oh yeah, Steve Cropper plays guitar on Third somewhere. Maybe the Velvet Underground tune, I forget)

Every time I read Henry Miller I feel like I've been punched in the gut, but in the best possible way:

velvet_petal:
Hearing his work read out loud is a great way to take it in. Henry is such a character, I always like hearing him read it himself. His work is rough and mean to the bone and often rambling, but I like it.

Welp, the Pirates just ensured they will have yet another losing season today. I'm not even sure why I bother anymore.

It's Aesop's Fables, man! Gotta keep my values in check from time to time. The one on top is The Rubaiyat by Omar Kayyam.
velvet_petal:
Hmm...that's a tough one because as my mood changes I like different things. Orwell, Henry Miller, Vonnegut, Kerouac, Elmore Leonard, Dickens, Nick Hornby, John le Carre, Bill Bryson, Flaubert, Balzac, Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson are some I like very much.

Field trip to Japan?

velvet_petal:
Oh no, it wasn't regular fun banter which is fine. More 1 person trying to egg me into sending nudie pics repeatedly, me declining politely repeatedly, then finally having to tell him off. Next a round of discussions to delineate some boundaries with a different friend, but I think that is all settled so I feel better. I just figured that fairly innocent bit of salaciousness was stirring up more trouble than it was worth. I actually thought it was more funny than sexual. You know, because everyone here knows I'm so private and it is not like me to do a nudie shot? And it really wasn't...but it was....but it wasn't...so I figured friends would laugh because that kind of thing is so me.
