[first half from around 445 or so this afternoon]
I marched today for 5 hours.
It was my first time ever and I didn't really intend to get involved. If I hadn't ran into the former ninjarobot (i forget his current name, sorry, jerry) I probably wouldve left after having a quick look around.
I saw a lot of interesting stuff. Unfortunately I did not see the most "interesting" part--watching the cops drag a three year old boy off the back of his father. I saw that shit on tv and its sickening.
Protesting is kinda silly. Nearly everybody in SF is already opposed to the war. Keeping those people from going about their business is silly and kinda pointless.
I just heard on the news that this is costing the city governemment $500,000 just for today. All that money just to piss of a small minority in SF and annoy all the people who agree with you.
So dispite all I said about how stupid it is, I'm bored now at home and since the protestors are still five minutes down the street from me I think I'm gonna go back down there.

update: 1000 pm.
So I marched some more. For four hours. Thats over nine hours of walking today. I'm so fucking beat. I feel sunburned and dehydrated and I keep spacing out.
I think the afternoon march was way funner than the day one. The police finally got organized and just sorta let the marchers go where they wanted (except for on the freeway of course) Especially as it turned dark I saw numerous instances of communication between the cops and the 'organizers'.
Altogether it was a fun day. I ran into all sorts of random freinds and aqauintences and met people. I don't think I'll ever need to do this sort of thing again but I'm really glad I did.
