Well, I'll post a bit of a catch up blog for today.

Thursday night in LEs was great fun. Started with sushi at Yama and a quick walk around soho, and then up to orchard st. for a night of drinking. I'd been anxious to show M. around that area, as I've been arguing its one of the few areas of NY left that really retains some real ny flair. We also wanted to avoid the 'club scene" (i'm really through with that I think), and instead focus on some spots for good, hip music and with some character. So we went to Bahaus, Orchard, and Angel. I had planned to hit all the bars in the area, but after pounding some martinis and beers in each, the full tour had to be postponed.

Angel's a great bar, I'm a big fan. And Yama is right around the corner from my apartment. Well done - you picked a great neighborhood.

And yeah, I think you're spot on with the problem of lab work. Very often it's really slow - and so that kind of sucks the drama out of it and forces it out a 30 or 60 minute time slot. In fact, I remember once when I was an undergrad there was an episode of the X-files where Scully had to do a "Southern Blot," which is a standard biochemical technique, only she did the entire thing from start to finish in about 6 hours, which we were all laughing about in the lab the next day, since it takes about 4 days to do.

Anyway, sure, next time you're planning on coming to the city let me know and we'll can certainly get together for a martini or two.
