I apologize for being away so long. A really odd hard month, which I'll share with you, but I wrote like a fiend and got some major stuff accomplished.

Yay!! You and your amazing words have been greatly missed. I'm so glad that you have returned. smile

I have been doing some I Ching readings, so I'm starting to get comfortable with the practice, but I think I have trouble coming up with the proper questions. Do you have advice for question seekers?

I hope that you will share some of your new writings. They always tickle my brain with such tantalizing thought patterns.

*welcome back smoosh!*

Be well.

That's beautiful - you really captured some of the essence of New York. And of course, I love the brain metaphor (for obvious reasons.) biggrin

This is becoming a very scary country in which to live. First we have a 'president' appointed by the supreme court, while one of the members of the court, Antonin Scalia, is a hunting a drinking buddy of durty ole Dick Cheny. Then our president blatently lies to get the country into a war, mostly for the economic benifit of one company, haliburton. Guess what,...

If you aren't working against the man - you're working for the man. That's how I see it too - I've been a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Sierra Club and the ACLU for a while now. I've also donated to the DNC several times this year. It's the only way things will get better.

I loved the "sit-calm" joke. It's scary and it's sad, but it's so true.

Don't let politics get you down too much though - as Lisa Simpson says, "They have the plant, but we have the power." smile

the boyfriend and i have decided that if the current asswad is voted in again (and we won't be doing that, nosir), we're moving to europe or canada or somewhere.

I'm not dead; I swear.

Well this seems to prove it doesn't. Or does it. Hmmm.

You mean you actually have things to do besides spend time on this site? I'm jealous. wink

Well, I'll post a bit of a catch up blog for today.

Thursday night in LEs was great fun. Started with sushi at Yama and a quick walk around soho, and then up to orchard st. for a night of drinking. I'd been anxious to show M. around that area, as I've been arguing its one of the few areas of NY left that really...

Angel's a great bar, I'm a big fan. And Yama is right around the corner from my apartment. Well done - you picked a great neighborhood.

And yeah, I think you're spot on with the problem of lab work. Very often it's really slow - and so that kind of sucks the drama out of it and forces it out a 30 or 60 minute time slot. In fact, I remember once when I was an undergrad there was an episode of the X-files where Scully had to do a "Southern Blot," which is a standard biochemical technique, only she did the entire thing from start to finish in about 6 hours, which we were all laughing about in the lab the next day, since it takes about 4 days to do.

Anyway, sure, next time you're planning on coming to the city let me know and we'll can certainly get together for a martini or two.

i remember my days of bar-hopping.
ahhh ... good times. even when you're not drinking.

Let me know the next time you're going to be in town, we'll get a beer together!

And yeah, we were moving pretty quickly from VT down to NYC - I think we averaged about 80mph. not quite the autobahn, but not bad either. wink

grrrrrr...

fire burns
that is the first law

the writing is nothing,
the being in a position to write
is 9/10ths of the difficulty
(that's where they get you:
seduction or the strong arm stuff)

the writing should be a relief
relief from the conditions
which as we advance becomes a fire
for writing is also an attack
so they must find means to douse...

i don't know if you were a strange boy as much as you are a wonderful man. Your way woith language makes me feel satiated.
legionnaire:
Vermont was absolutely beautiful, you were right.

And I completely resonate with that sentiment - writing isn't difficult at all, it's getting yourself into the proper state of mind where you no longer have to think about the next words coming out, you're just a conduit from wherever those words reside to the computer screen, getting them there as soon as possible.

Going away for the weekend, probably to return Suday night. Hope you all have a great weekend as well.

so to fill up space till then, i'll be an egotistical writer and post another one of my essays skull

I loved reading your latest entry. and there is nothing wrong with being an "egotistical writer". I didn't see much evidence of an ego at all anyway.
