Naturally, I will answer all your comments in due course (although probably not until next week, je regrette), but, having just arrived back in Newcastle (or Thugville, as I'm inclined to call it, after Paris wink ), and somewhat in need of a drink, and then some dinner with the fragrant Atsuko ( miao!! ), I'm a have to be quick (Did you hear me talking gangsta there? I'm a have to...?) ...and I know I haven't posted on here for about a week, so felt it time I did...

So, since we last spoke, I have:

Written: 5000 words on Rivette's film criticism; 2000 words of the supposed Novel (I now have a complete scene! Problem: working out what comes after the scene... confused )

Listened: enraptured, to Hotel Costes Vol. 2; intrigued to The Avalanches' Since I left you; enthralled, to Brucey-boy Springsteen; in incomprehension to Marah (incomprehension because: why aren't they HUGE?); indolent, to Iron & Wine; introverted, to Sufjan Stevens; in hysterics, then in wonder to the Moldy Peaches 'Rainbows':

'She takes her coffee with a cigarette
She misses people she hasn't even met
She is me and you are listening to me sing...'

Seen: People Will Talk (Joseph L. Mankiewicz, 1951): an image of pure happiness;
Exils (Tony Gatlif, 2004): some good work with music; one very convincing trance...
Duelle (Jacques Rivette, 1976?): couldn't follow it, but some inspired locations...
Fin aout, dbut septembre (Olivier Assayas, 1998): better the second time around, made me nostalgic...
Merry-go-round (Jacques Rivette, 1979): Fantastic: ah, the 1970s...
Monsieur Verdoux (Charles Chaplin, 19fiftysomething): miraculous...
Clean (Olivier Assayas, 2004): sort of touching, although I think I was getting screen-fatigue by this stage...

and, oh yes, dreamed the following:
that a former girlfriend - or, no: a girl I used to be in love with; she was never exactly my girlfriend - was performing dental work on my troubled and trembling mouth. She was gentle and it was painless. Afterwards, she whispered something in my ear that made me feel good, but I can't remember what it was...

(I have an actual dentist appointment tomorrow - I have my doubts that it will be as pleasant and frankly erotic as my dream...)

Dark City...I'll check it out...sounds a bit scary though. I might leave all the lights on for that one.

I am currently editing a storybook wedding...you know the whole bit. I don't mind weddings so much but this one imparticular...woah. Rather stick my hand in a meat grinder.

So you didn't sink your teeth into Ab Fab? (Love the abrieve). The humor was vicious...I enjoyed that part...American TV doesn't pull out it's nails like that.

I got "Lovely and Amazing" coming next.

Thanks for the recommendation...same director as the Crow ((+_+))
