Ive got two presentations for my music class coming up. One is on Frank Zappa, the other is on Nine Inch Nails. The combined length is 32 minutes, 16 on each. The plan is to talk about the artist for eight minutes, then play some of their music for the other eight minutes. The problem is I dont know what songs I should play for...

Hell you couldn't fit the width and breadth of anybody's work into 16 minutes.. it's too short. Why don't you try focusing on a specific part of his work and how it was important? His use of cut-up techniques in music or his revolutionary incorporation of the synclavier or the wah-wah pedal would be good examples. (Hendrix said that Zappa was the first to use the wah-wah and showed it to him)

Good luck with those ideas.

Those of you who have been following the news lately probably know that the countryside surrounding my town is on fire. What these news reports fail to mention is that an entire mountain that has caught fire looks very, very cool. At least at night. You see this hazy line of orange just floating in the sky. It sort of looks like the sun creeping...

I hope that you are safe from the fire. Be careful!

I hope Club Congress doesn't burn down! I am excited about coming out there to play! We bought a van on Friday...our first tour bus. We will drive it to AZ! Yay!

That sux about the car situation. Maybe you'll be able to find a way to work it out...

Yeah, it'd suck if your apartment burned down.

fires suck, when they burn things down. that link hates my computer, though...grr.

what i'm doing in new york:
today i went to the hamptons. i'm so cool.

or something.
all i've done so far is go to the beach.
then we drove from one side of long island to the other and went to another beach.
now i'm eating pie.
rickroyal:
I'm going to avoid Hulk. It's not so much the movie as I just don't like crowds. I'll see it eventually. Pity it's PG-13, though.

Is the town burning a good thing, or a bad thing? I suppose a case could be made for both.

I got threw most of 28 Days Later, but I had to go to class before it finished. Class consists of watching Ed Sullivan re-runs. But, as a change of pace we watched Ed Sullivan AND Elvis live from Hawaii. Somehow, I couldnt get back into the Zombie movie mood.

I am currently convinced that Ed Sullivan was a walking talking caricature of himself.

Equilibrium was pretty bad-ass. I don't know if it's better than the Matrix, though. Basically, it comes down to this: If you like one, you'll probably like the other. Stylistically, they're very similar (very black-and-white, with lots of kung-fu and gunfights). Plotwise, they're both ripping off of science fiction, although Matrix is ripping off cyberpunk in general, and Equilibrium is more of a Ray Bradbury knock-off.

I'd take the chick from Equilibrium over Trinity, though. There's your tie-breaker.

I just downloaded the shaky-cam version of 28 Days Later. This actually the second time I downloaded it, but the first time it was really the Ali G movie. Maybe it will help me get into this.

I had Jello today (Who ever gets that, will immediately receive, like, a million cool points.)

I went to a real grocery store today. I usually shop for food at an overgrown K-Mart. Since I eat almost nothing but junk food, Super-K serves my needs well. But today I made a pilgrimage to a 24 hour Frys. I came back with ninety dollars worth of...

I sent a message to alll of the space aliens asking them not to mess around with you on August 15 so you could come to my show. They said ok so I think we're in the clear.

Let's see, you had Jello today. Did you do something with your mouth perhaps...dental, piercing, tonsils out? Or maybe you had lunch at a buffet and that's all they had for desert besides that soft-serve ice cream machine. I don't know...I give up frown

You have a grocery store called Frys? Here Frys is a computer store. Your post reminds me that I desperately need to go to the grocery store although a small part of me likes to not have food around so that I can shed a few more lbs.

Contrats on your grocery store visit. Now you just need to decide what to eat first.

you are awesome.

If all goes according to plan, by this time tomorrow, my miscreant compatriot and I will be off doing miscreantish things. Or at the very least, I can practice driving a bit. Well, anyway, if I drop off the face of the planet for a bit, its cause the posse and I are out in the desert, hoping our Subaru doesnt spontaneously die.

Thanks for the Tucson club info sweet stuff. kiss
I contacted Club Congress and we'll be playing there on Friday, August 15 at 11:00 p.m. with Soviet. Soon I will join you in your hot and sweaty desert. Drive that Subaru and your miscreant campatriot over to the hotel and hang out with us.
