So it's been quite a while. A few things have happened, of some import.
1) Plans for the holidays finalized. Boston, Canada, and Alabama. An interesting mix, to say the least.
2) The incumbent prevailed. Not that I had any doubts, and not that I'm not disappointed, but it turned out better than I was hoping for.
3) Politics are getting worse than usual, and it isn't the candidates. The voting public is getting ridiculous. No one is exempt from this insanity: liberals, conservatives, republicans, democrats, everyone. They've seriously gone off the deep end.
I'll expand on this a little more. You have an opinion? That's great. You have a strong, emotional opinion? That's better. Passion is fantastic. What is not fantastic, is fallacy-riddled name-calling under the guise of political commentary or debate. If you say "the liberals are doing this", you're an idiot. If you say "the GOP is doing this", you're also an idiot.
There are few people in this world who enjoy being pigeonholed, yet it is the number one fallacy (aside from, perhaps, ad hominem) used in debate. Generalization.
And generally, I'm pretty sick of it.
End of bitching. Now, back to training for a grass-roots approach to citizen-enforced law.
4) Not really a new point or anything that's happened, just a curiosity. Ever wonder what it would be like if citizens were not only informed of the laws under which they lived, but also chose to enforce them? A few more good samaritans?
Call me kooky or unrealistic, but... I think it's a shame there aren't more superheros. As much as I respect cops (good cops, that is) and those sworn to uphold the law, hey: it's their job. They get paid to do it. So sadly, it's not as big a deal.
But those who go out of their way, when they see a wrong and right it.
We need more Batman types.
Laugh if y'want, but you know it's true.
Now if you'll excuse me... I'm off to the Batcave.
