AND SO HERE IT IS! The highly unanticipated update....
As the world's turned it nearly spun me off, but I retain my toe hold and inch ever further along, getting closer to the earth. The old band is really, really, gone now, while our new band kicks ass! We formed up on kind of a fluke about a month ago, and we all had so much damn fun with it that we kept showing up. Our new band is called Analog Earth. We just uploaded our first garage recordings to myspace so you can check us out there. Very similar arrangement, two guitars, keys, bass, drums, and a vocalist. Different sound. Still stickin like glue to our reggae roots, but reaching out to a diversity of other styles and pulling them in as well. Like Mars Volta, RX bandits, GDB...311. We have just six songs right now. But they're pretty tight. We crashed a certain local wannabe's celebrity birthday bash and played our little set this past friday. It was a blast. Thanks for letting us rock out. We all had a lot of fun. And that's the whole point.
As for the dinner music, that's still in my idea bank, a little piano and acoutstic guitar....I think we could pull it off with a little practice and determination. I'm trying to get out and do more, be a little more involved, and still pushing myself to learn more about music, recording, and sound. I record right now with an old roland VS 880ex, and I'm learning to love it more and more. Once I finally get a cd burner hooked up and working I'll be much happier. The VS is great, but it's old, and has no usb for transfering files or data. Don't ask me why I'm such a hardware guy while the whole world embraces computer recording. I'll bite the bullet here soon and get some software up and running. But I just love hardware. My eight track goes anywhere, is fast and effiecient, has real fadars and knobs for mixing...If I want to get real crazy I'll Midi the VS up with my Fantom x workstation...Dude. Don't get me started on all the crazy sonic possibilities.
Speaking of Sonic possibilities: Number one thing I love about the new band is learning to tweak knobs on my synths while the guitarists tweak knobs on their effects....Chris the Gutiarist recently got a line 6 modulation modeler and the delay modeler...That shit is illlllll....Check out our music.
Keep you tips up y'all for the crazy world will only get crazier. Love, and be loved.
