Hello world. Here's what turns in my world.
My lovely little band has broken up. Can I use the excuse: broken up for artistic reasons? cool. We definetely had some differences of opinion on overall direction of the band. To bad too, we had just played the Tempe Big Fish Pub show, and did quite well. But we all got in a big fight immediately after, and the band broke up the next week. boo.
I could get into more specifics, or discuss lessons learned, but the wounds are still fresh, and there are still many hurt feelings and unresolved issues with all parties involved. Suffice to say that I quit, for I feel my time can be better spent getting my own life together, getting ass deep into the sequencing and programming functions of my keyrig, furthering myself and my music, and spending more quality time with my family.
Ok, I'll say this: I'm a bit tired of playing show after show for a promoter who doesn't pay me, and believes that he is the leader of my band. I'm a bit tired of these small town promoters who attach like leeches to a good band, and suck along beside them building their own business on the backs of artists. Thanks for getting us up on stage, and helping us get out there. We played some cool shows with some cool bands from out of town. Voodoo Glow skulls, Knock Out, Savage Kat, Trip six, Wierd is the New Cool, Fayuca, Doco, Sinizen, Brothers Gow, to name a few. Experience was all I got out of our business relationship. Playing all these shows the past six months turned out to be nothing more than an expensive hobby for us. While my band is now broken up and over with, without so much as a recording, a t shirt, or even a sticker, we got your promoter business up and running, and got you to where you can now turn a profit. Two of our original five members stuck with you, and built you a new 3 piece band which is carrying on with all the shows my band was originally scheduled to play, securing your interests, upholding your contracts, making you money. You even have your website up and running thanks to my former Guitar player. I'm sure the new band will do as you say and not question your authority.
I'm trying not to be bitter, but damn, I didn't even get the lousy t-shirt.
Check out Urban Riddumz on youtube to see one whole minute of our last and final show, live at the big fish pub in tempe.
