We're back home, it's 10:30pm. Man, it was hot
today!! The contest went well. We didn't win the
meat (bummer, but we didn't have any seasonings or
anything and just smoked with salt and pepper, so that
part of the competition was sorta doomed. Plus it was
way way to hot to stand by a grill all day today for
most of us. Justin ended up doing most of the
grilling).
We did win the Best Design and Fabrication 1st place
and were offered a commision to create another piece
for SeaMonster, so thats pretty cool.
We all just pretty much hung out down at the festival,
went swimming a couple of times to cool off and
listened to music and stuff. Oh, and also ate ice
cream many times
Here are some pictures from yesterday and today.
#1 Pulling our ArtBQ through the parade. We were
right behind this one float that had all these
political figures painted on it that the crowd got to
throw tomatoes at, so we got splattered some, the
whole way. Plus it was pretty gross sometimes because
they kept re-using the same soggy tomatoes over and
over until they were unidentifiable.
#2 The break down. The welds underneath were sort of
giving out and it wouldn't roll very well at all so we
slept in the bike path waiting for a truck to get
through the parade traffic and arrive to pick us up.
If you look close, you can see the rope we tied around
the bottom in attempt to fix it well enough to roll it
back, but it didn't work.
#3 Dancing for Trick Deck. I don't think I'll do it
again. It was fun enough but I guess I got kinda
bored and wanted to go swimming.
#4 Fired up for the first time. Worked really great.
One guy that was passing by while we were cooking,
rented it out for some function he's having in 2
weeks
#5 Kiley and I in this tiny park in the fair that was
nice and cool and surrounded by trees that had tiny
misters spraying water from branches way up. We were
watching the mist as it dropped down and was
highlighted by the sun rays coming through the leaves
and making rainbows.
pretty sleepy...enjoy the pictures - theres more in my pics.
