I have a black yamaha bass (4 string, no idea what type specifically), i baught it off a friend last year, he defretted it aswell, so its fretless, which some people dont like at all. Im not too confident in my abilitys, but I enjoy playing, and I think Im getting better

Well ..my day is slumping. I never really get around to watching the news much, for the sake of my mental health anyway. I did watch CNN for a bit today though. Now my spirit is feeling beaten down. Those humanitarians at the UN HQ in Iraq. I feel terrible for them.

'Ey up there, cheers for leaving a comment! The army thing definitely sounds interesting - I'll keep checking back to read the next instalment. I actually nearly joined myself when I was 18 - a lot of my mates did because up here in Bradford it was either that or the dole (the city used to employ lots of people in the mills there but they all shut back in the '80s meaning it's now an unemployment blackspot). In the end, I became a student instead - I didn't think the Uni I'd applied to would accept me because my grades in a couple of subjects were really bad but they let me in. I've not seen much of the lads who went into the squaddies since but I've been reliably informed they now drink like a bunch of seriously oversized whales when they're on leave!!!

The Friday show was good. The Pale is nice power pop, entertaining, nothing terribly original but they do it well. Menomena was interesting. Three guys, all of whom sing, some in higher voices than they should, and a xylophone was involved at certain moments.
Went to another show last night. Two more Portland bands, My Regrets and Telephone. Both not bad, again not terribly interesting. Both mid-tempo, but what really got to me were the singers' voices. They were male, and rather flat. I don't know anything about the technical aspects of music, but I know what I like, and these bands didn't really do it for me. Oh well. It's always good to get out of the house, right?
