Today's Primaries in Missouri:
Party Affiliation:
Libertarian, because they offend me least and Dean is no longer on the ballot. Based on the stacks of ballot stubs at the box, I was the only one.
Nonpartisan Issue #1: More riverboat gambling? (Tax revenue earmarked for education.)
Yes, because people should be allowed to shoot themselves in the foot. Using the funds from those who choose...

I've used the new profile feature to put up a wishlist. None of you should use it - I'd be morbidly embarrassed. It's more that I saw SGs doing it and my first reaction was to think of it as CamWhorish. Only, if more people did it, it would seem normal. And we'd know where to go when we wanted to do nice things for...

Almost ... almost.
Also, the wishlist thing is a great idea. Now, if I didn't have a stalker on the site, I just might do such a thing.

The wishlist feature is interesting, but I can't think of anything to put there. It shall stay empty for now, I guess.
Happy to hear that Albert is doing well.
Happy to hear that Albert is doing well.
Albert the guinea boar has survived his surgery. He's stoned on painkillers now, but munching hay regardless.
Update: 12 hours after his surgery and Albert is still with us. If he makes it to the morning, maybe I can ease off worrying about the little bundle of fur so much.
Update 2: It's morning and he's not only alive, but drinking water again without having...

Just bottled my first batch of mead. Initial tasting after ~10 months of fermentation have it being a little beery and somewhat strong. I'm told that mead is a notoriously slow brewing beverage, and I should expect it to need at least a year of age before it's worth drinking. In the meantime.. it wasn't bad. Not good... but not bad, either. Perhaps in another...

I used to have some really good friends who made mead. If I remember correctly they fermented it for 6 months and bottled it for 6. They tried all kinds of flavors too, I think strawberry or blueberry were my two faves apart from just the reagular stuff. The thing about mead is that you never know what you are going to get when it's done. EVERY batch is different, even if you do the exact same thing every time. It's the honey.
If you EVER need an experienced taste tester, my services are there for you.

i think it's honey and wine in this case, but essentially the same, yeah.

I was just changing my guinea pigs' cage bedding, and noticed that one of them had a HUGE lump in his nether regions, like a hernia or a tumor. Now he's all bouncy and happy seeming because he has fresh bedding, and I'm worried sick about him.
Called the vet. Left a message. Hopefully they can see him soon. Good guinea pig vets...

My main project of note is to get a purely VoIP wifi handset working on a service like Vonage. I've found two places on the internet where people have done exactly this, but I'm still into trying it. The main allure, of course, is to be able to walk around my apartment with a VoIP phone just like I would my old Panasonic cordless, but without the kludgy converter box. After that, maybe an OS X service that will let me dial any number I've got highlighted automatically.

Questions:
When SG:NHS captures the Seychelles, what will the capital be renamed?
The capital will be named Flux.
What is the optimal packing arrangement for spheres of radius r in a cube whose sides are length r?
Well... spatial thinking kills me BUT: There's no way it'll fit. Right?
My guinea pigs are still scared of me after 3 months of living in the same room where I sleep. What can I do to convince them that I'm non-threatening?
Dude, they're guinea pigs. By the time they realize that you aren't a threat, they forget who you are again.
Left or Right?
Left. Always
Who will win the 2067 world series?
Trick question, because by 2067, there will be no baseball.

- In other piscine-related news, the St. Louis city museum has eaten the St. Louis Aquarium, and added the complete collection amongst the slides, secret passageways, and multi-story jungle-gym apparatus. At one point in time, I could recite up to 20 digits of Pi. I was pretty happy about that.
And then, last night I had this dream that I was taking Organic Chemistry and Chemistry and Biology as an undergrad and I was kicking everyone's asses.
Apparantly, in this dream, I was studying to be a Veterinarian. How cool would that be?
(Now, if I was decent with numbers, I might be more gung-ho about the whole thiing)

We must turn this into some kind of national holiday or something. That would be pretty awesome.

My old friend Jon asked me to join him at a LARP to be one of his minions. (LARP: Live Action Roleplaying game. Like Dungeons and Dragons, except the players actually dress up in costume and walk around in character. It's about the dorkiest thing you can do with a handful of dice and 40 people of limited social cognizance.) I agreed. This ate my...

Hey, that site is really cool and I had never heard of it before. Thanks
Having now seen more than a single episode of it, I am comfortable recommending "Firefly" as one of the few TV shows worth watching, ever.
