I'll be doing a shoot with a new Hopeful tomorrow.

It could have fallen at a time more convenient than one week before finals, but if fetish models want me to be in the room while they disrobe, should I really complain?

A single, vending machine sized bag of Fritos has 400 calories.

Knowing this makes my day: I can never get ENOUGH calaroies, especially since I went semi-vegetarian.

After many hours without sleep and a couple slightly bumpy plane rides, I'm back in Mobile, Alabama. Only I've slept now.

Drifting around the city reminds me how things change, even here. A hurricane came through a few months back, but didn't seem to touch the place. Yet the hours of everything are different. The short list of insomniac havens I'd compiled for here isn't...

Tropical fruits eh? Have you read Byron's 'The Island'? ("Promiscuous plenty pour'd / Her horn, the equal land / Without a lord." "Young hearts which languish'd for some sunny isle...men without country." I just have, and am surprised to like it [see earlier anti-Byron rant] and it's cunningly 'realistic mutiny' undertones). Ah, if only a utopia reality were, in fact, real. smile
Apparantly living is in general more expensive in the states than in NZ, so the price of a hybrid car is a little above what the average middle class family is willing to pay for a vehicle (eg: about NZ$6000). I believe another problem is that they are still very very new here, and hence very rare. We're not a society which, as a whole, changes cars a lot either...so if the old (polluting) glove still fits...
An orgy eh? I like the way you think. More Bachanalia (sans possible human sacrifice methinks), less 'real world'. Speaking of which, my newly (and very happily, I am pleased to discover) single self engaged in a 'menage...sept(?)' last night. A timely comment then? So there's the quota of NZ decadence filled for the day then. 'Pouring horns' indeed, hawr hawr. biggrin
I am off to find a remedy for my 'disoronno'-addled stomach and muzzy head. Have a great day! ARRR!!!

I asked a girl to dance. She looked up and explained that she was going home with that boy over there. Yet it was kind on account of her tone and her expression. She looked as if she was struck just then by the thought that she didn't want to turn me down. She looked a trace wistful.

This was my favorite rejection yet.

4 years ago, I bought a hybrid car. Everyone wanted to know about it.

The next year, a friend of mine bought her own hybrid, partially at urging from me. She loves it.

Just tonight I found out that my mother and my uncle - the one who last drove an SUV - are now looking at hybrids.

See? It's not all bad news today.

I don't think I have a "chocolate allergy." I think it's more along the lines of "my digestive system hates me and doesn't want me to have any more fun food."

And yes, Toblerone's white chocolate bar makes me drool. By even thinking of it, I will be dreaming of getting off work tomorrow and purchasing and eating one with a cup of coffee.
unnethe:
It's cool that you can actually do that. In NZ hybrid cars are still so expensive as to be odd rich people's toys. I think I've seen one...maybe... There is a hybrid bus around uni, and that's very novel.

Voted Libertarian with a side order of Get Bush the F Out of Office, Plz.

For those who haven't already heard my rant:

Condorcet voting is much better than our current Simple Plurality system. You'd actually get a chance to vote for the candidate you LIKED if we had a Condorcet system in place.

So I kissed a girl today.

I said, "Can I ask you a question?" and when she said yes, I kissed her. Then I pulled back and waited for her response.

It was "No."
midnyte:
That was rather bold. How much alcohol was involved? smile
teclo:

I am glad it could make you feel a little bit better.
Girls can be brutal. And from what I know of you, she made a mistake.

So I drag myself out of bed, to campus, to the lab to code, and Ms. Lauren sits down next to me and asks if I've seen today's Penny Arcade. I hadn't. I was wearing the appropriate shirt, tho.

Hilarity ensues.
hbfm:
Whether they're on about SCO, NetHack, SG, or whatever penny arcade is always good.
teclo:

It's dumb, stupid, and dumber.
SG will reign supreme.
We don't have killer mushrooms here.

"Can I push the button myself and save $50?" - Conversation with the Apple Genius Bar Genius. (He said yes.)

Dropped by the Apple store this morning, got the data transferred from the hard drive out of my old Mac onto my new one. The brain transfer - she is complete. Got to see the inside of my last mac during the process. There were...
