Phew.
Sleepy. Roadworn. Happy.
After 24 hours on trains, I'm out of Eastern Europe and back in Berlin.
It was great over there, but I'm glad to be back someplace where I know how things work and how to get things done. I've got a handful of loose ends to tie up in the next fortnight before flying back across the pond for Burning Man....

Perhaps. Then again animals acting pouty has never broken me down. That's why my dogs don't beg

It was going to be a flashback in a different story. Since I cut it, though, it may work as an opener in something else.

i really don't think it's the pregnancy thing. i think it's just part of life. i wasn't talking about myself.

Yeah I don't know I've never had anything like this before, I guess it started as a UI and has spread to my kidneys :-( Hopefully these antibiotics will sort it out in the next few days. Ah damn you are in Helsinki and I'm in bed with a kidney infection, cruel world!! Although it doesn't sound like you're enjoying it quite as much as some of the other places...

I just really liked the look on the iguana's face, and from my experience the dogs gonna lose a tongue.

Thank you. I like it how every time I see you posting your location has changed! I've only been to Amsterdam and Stockholm of those cities but they're both amazing, have a great time.

i envy your life so much right now.
A day in Monaco
I took a day trip to Monaco from Nice. I actually like Nice more, though it's not as given to pretty pictures. Nice just gets down to the business of having lots of public beaches with blue crystal water, 96 flavors of gelato, painting supply shops, and all else fun in life.
But Monaco looks better in pictures. So on to...

Do you have a Eurail pass? And if so, did they tell you the train was full? The same thing happened to me, and I lost out on the bed I paid for in Lyon, which in turn made me miss Chamonix and a cable car over Mont Blanc. It was the first and last time I allowed that to happen.
If you're in France and you're told that the train is full, what they really mean is "we have a set number of spaces for railpass holders, there are no more of those spaces, and we don't want to give you a seat that may be purchased for actual money."
If you really need to get on that train, then go ahead and do so. When asked for your ticket, tell them that you have a railpass and you'd like to pay for your reservation now. It'll cost more, but at least you'll actually be on the train; the conductor knows nothing of these ridiculous railpass restrictions.
