Rod position is especially important to playing strong fish properly. From the moment you set the hook, your rod butt should be jammed into your stomach or mid-chest area to utiilize the full arc and power of the rod. Keep the tip up throughout a normal fight and constantly maintain pressure on the fish. Avoid slack line.
