Enough bad news.
Good news for the day: FDA quietly relegalizes select absinthes in the U.S.
Absinthe, banned on the lead up to prohibition, was never relegalized when the 21st ammendment to the US constitution ended prohibition. The ban on "thujone as a food additive" was taken as a ban on absinthe for the last hundred years. This, despite the fact that sage contains more thujone than wormwood. Your average bottle of pizza sauce should be illegal by the same reasoning.
Not long ago, the FDA analyzed a couple of the absinthes coming out of Europe (where it was never illegal outside of a few countries) and stated that the thujone levels in them were too low to be regulated. Shortly thereafter, the St. George Spirits of Alameda, California filed for a permit to create the stuff, and it was granted. The first bottles went on sale today.

I'm pretty sure I can find him a shelter where he'll be taken care of instead of euthanized (which is not an option I'll consider). But it breaks my heart anyway.
its more fun to put the puzzle together yourself
