I saw in the New Year surrounded by old friends, playing Cthulhu: the Drinking Game. My personal Cthulhu was Bowmore 12 year.
Vague mumblings on goals for the New Year:
Reevaluate how I'm going to go about remaining an independent creative. Work more short contracting gigs into the schedule.
Keep going with the recent batch of amazingness that's been my life. Not to gloat, but...

18 November 2009 - Scientists and engineers at IBM's Almaden Research Center, in San Jose, Calif., announced today at the Supercomputing Conference (SC09) in Portland, Ore., that they have created the largest brain simulation to date on a supercomputer. The number of neurons and synapses in the simulation exceed those in a cat's brain...
The IBM research shows that a model of the human brain...

Sci Fi authors across the world just bonered up.

So technically, it wasn't uber geek in the intellectual sense. More in the teeny bopper (?) sense of geekiness-silliness. I went with Tim to a midnight showing of New Moon. It ended up being entirely too comedic for it's own good
You must write me and tell me how Germany is treating you. I'd love to hear all about it
we miss you in the states. xo

This blog post was a question about how many stories we keep in our heads at once, but I accidentally edited over it. Oops.

Little Brother was not my favorite.. I think Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom and Makers are much better. You can download the whole makers book for free as a PDF - or even as a file you can put on your Kindle.
If you like these you should also download for free "Geek Mafia" by Rick Dakan - it's a bunch of geeks / hackers who turns into sort of Robin Hood-y con artists. It's pretty good. Three books in the series, although he only released the first 2 under a CC license. You can find them for free on his site or here.

I'm sure jade has a lot to do with it.
I'd have liked to have shared that moment in Berlin, with you, and everyone else there. I'm sure it would have brought tears to my eyes.

I built a time machine out of cigarettes and the Bible.
The coding project continues along well, so I was surprised to take stock today and find that I'd written just under a thousand lines, total, in the whole project. Or a thousand and a few hundred more if you count the data files as well as the code. It seems so minute when put that way. Just ten lines a day or so on the...

Mr. Watts has a way with words, to be sure, and I like the way that he explained yoga (a subject of which I know very little to begin with).
...I haven't gone back and read either of those threads in a few months, but I agree with your assessment. I can't even begin to fathom who might be picked - but, to be honest, I don't know if something like that could exist now. SG is a very different place then it was at that time, no?
I hope that you're feeling better, good sir.

It's the Filmhaus on Potzdammer Platz. It's located in the Sony Center. It traces film in German history (silent films, to the Nazi era, to Run Lola Run, also includes a wing for Marlene Dietrich). The entrance to the exhibits is amazing, I can't describe it properly, but you walk on what feels like a catwalk it , everything's shiny steel-it feels like you're suspended in mid air.
This one is from online. The rest are mine
I have no idea what this says, but these guys got chased away by the police after awhile (they were near the train station).
Here's some of the outside.

Thanks for translating that for me!
Creating the game - actually, both games - is coming along well. Work progresses so much faster when you love what you do. Being in inspiring environments and out from under deadline pressure long enough to relax does much to restore that love.
Meanwhile, I've gotten the soundtrack to Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog lodged firmly in my head. If you don't wish the same...

It's not popular, controversial, or video based enough to get the block.

You know, everyone seems to either love it or hate it. I personally am not too into Content Management Systems, so I don't really have an opinion on that. But, still a WIN for Linux!

And excellent news from you indeed.
