Two more day s of work, and then off until August 17! So very excited about this. Work has been hell for both of us lately, so we really feel we're earning this vacation.

I think I'm going to need to start dragging my ass out of bed every Saturday for 9:00 a.m. yoga class. This is the second time I've done it, and even...

That place has everything you need. If not you can use the sister property at Surf Sand they have an nice pool and exercise area

Yoga is amazing. There is always room, you just sometimes have to use things as props! I got a bunch of youtube advice on stretching for different issues and love it. I hate having to attend classes (such and introvert) Have a blast at cannon! Should hopefully be perfect weather.

Ugh. Hot. Sweaty. Hungry. Kitchen is a million degrees right now. Let's see what the world can deliver to me.

Yay for food and drinking!

Another dead hard drive in the laptop. It's okay though, because it's still under warranty. I waste too much time on the computer anyway.

In other news, I have successfully done full yoga headstand for many days in a row now. As this was my ultimate goal at the beginning of this summer class, I am very content. biggrin

In even more other news, I can't...

Stephanie Inn? Dang.. flat out the most expensive place on the Oregon Coast. We actually thought about staying there but I wanted to be able to walk into town if I wished so we stayed at the SurfSand which is a sister property to the Stephanie. You will enjoy it very much

It was nice to see you, albeit briefly, the other day.

As far as eyebrows go, I swear by Anastasia tinted brow gel. I use it on all of my clients who are very fair. It's natural looking and just gives you enough emphasis without being ridiculous. smile

Cracker's all better now. Just as I had hoped, the mechanics from Bridgetown Automotive not only came to the house and picked up my car, they brought it back to me later that morning. No charge for any of it.

Big sigh of relief, feeling of cautious optimism about having the car for years to come.

Dad and stepmom arrive for a visit on Thursday....

I'm glad it was good news for Cracker.

He wasn't always so photogenic:

Homeboy was a straight up hot mess when we first found him.

Sigh...

Cracker appears to have a problem leaking transmission fluid. As this wasn't a problem before his trip to the mechanic, I'm hoping they forgot to put a cap back on or close something up or do whatever car thing they do when they replace transmission fluid. Either way, I just hope they take care of it and don't charge me anything. Luckily, the car...

snakeplissken:
Define "stopped working". If you ran out of tranny fluid that could potentially be the end of that transmission. If so they'll be owing you one.
snakeplissken:
Most likely the forgot to replace the fill plug and it leaked out. That's why it wasn't shifting into gear. No hydraulic pressure. Should have left a lot of red stuff wherever it was leaking. Hopefully it only leaked to a point of non-operation and not failure. I'd be talking to that shop and be present at the time it's checked out so they can't try and bullshit you if it is their fault.

$500+ on miscellaneous car repairs. Stupid lack of money. Thank goodness for awesome dads who don't charge interest.

On the plus side, it's a beautiful sunny day. Not a bad day to be missing work due to having the car in the shop. Little Cracker will be better than ever after these repairs. Maybe then I'll stop lusting after Priuses. Priui? What's the plural of...

hah, if you don't know already, I'm sure atomicant could tell you. he already said he wouldn't visit me because my vagina would bite him and it would be awkward....

I'm glad your Cracker is out of the shop. As the owner of a brand new battery, I can feel your pain at the unanticipated car expenses.

God I'm boring. All I talk about anymore is work stuff or yoga stuff. I seriously find it incredibly challenging to dredge up any more conversation topics, so I rely on the other person or people to be interesting enough for both (or all) of us.

I think I used to be more interesting than this. Maybe not though. I skimmed through my journal entries...

It's a sad story. I try not to ever play the what if game. We were all there for him. He made the choices he made. I think it was just something that had to happen. It is a sad thing.

In defense to the girl I was seeing at the time... I didn't really want her there with me. We were not really seeing eye to eye and I didn't want any of our shit to boil over into other people's grieving process. People were turning to me for strength and answers, I felt responsible to "take care" of things. I didn't feel that I could deal with her and all the grief at the same time.

It's kinda' crazy... I was really busy with work at the time. I lost a good friend, broke up with my girlfriend.... I hardly noticed. Just kept plugging away.

Now for some reason all this stuff is coming back to me emotionally. I'm grieving lost friends, I'm bitter and angry at my ex, all sorts of other emotional things are coming at me.

I guess it's a sign that I need to deal with some shit before I move on to the next stage... almost there.

It's felt good to write about it.... the sun seems brighter and happier today. biggrin

I don't really update this thing very much anymore. It's easier to do one-sentence status updates over there on Facebook. I'm a lazy human being.

Another great weekend with friends, especially our houseguest SnakePlissken. Too much food, very little time spent outdoors, weekend over too soon.

Someday we'll get really good at riding our bikes, and join the rest of Portland on sunny days....

My back is almost healed I think. Recommend me some poses from your magic yoga book that would be beneficial in the strengthening of said muscles north of my ass. Please.

I look forward to the next food orgy, m'dear.

Good seeing you kids again last night- you coming to brunch? I hear they'll have food!

I just finished reading Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, and I can't get it out of my head. I don't know if I even liked it, I just can't shake the damn thing.

This one would not translate well to film either.

I don't know why I'm even updating to say this, except that I'm hoping that writing about it will help it leave my...

I'm not sure if you have anything planned foodwise for saturday, but if not I've got a big nice flank steak from the local butcher and an awesome recipe for beef teriyaki in the new cooks illustrated. Maybe a little yakisoba with it. Lemme know what you think.

Also, how did that mead sit with you? If it was ok for you I might just grab some more.
snakeplissken:
Excellent! I'll bring the meat and we can hit Trader Joes or something for the rest I'm sure. I'll probably hit Rays too for peppers and onions and that kind of basic stuff. If there is anything youse guys need, just say the word.

There are lots of reasons I adore practicing yoga. Increased flexibility and strength, feeling more centered and calm afterwards, sleeping better at night. But I think the number one reason is being able to roll around on the floor like a small child. There's something so joyful about being able to lie on my back and put my feet behind my head. I don't know...

King pigeon is what that full pigeon is called. Though it does take not only hips, but shoulders and hip flexors as well. Great looking though, i think. One of my favs to look at.
Balance: Here is what i tell all of my students, it may be ankle strength and not so much your actual balance.....try doing balance chairs, or just showering and cutting veggies up on the balls of your feet.
