After living in NY for over a year, I started to get a little claustrophobic ---- particularly when I was on crowded subways or in crowded bars...the bums on the street started to bug me, junkies, loud asses in the streets, etc...Eventually I embraced the suburbs! Poolside reveries, cicadas in the trees, quiet evenings with stars in the sky. I now find that I enjoy the city much more in small doses.
And good luck with getting your mind back...I lost mine sometime in the 80's!
