In a previous gin-related post, I mentioned a couple of other gins that I wanted to try. Having now tried both of them, I might as well share my impressions:
Opihr: Very nice. Based on how much I like both this and London No. 1, I'm coming to the conclusion that spicy gins are my thing. This actually takes the spiciness further than the aforementioned, with even the juniper taking a back-seat to the pepper and other spices. It's not a very traditional gin, but I like it and at under £20 a bottle it's a bargain.
TOAD Oxford Dry Gin: I first tried this in the bar at Brookes' sports centre in a fairly badly-made G&T (not enough ice and not very good tonic). At the time I was impressed enough to want to try more but felt that I hadn't really experienced it properly. Having bought a bottle myself, I'm not sure what to make of it. There's a sweet, malty flavour to the underlying spirit which is a bit inclined to dominate everything else. It's not unpleasant but it's a bit odd; not quite what I expect gin to taste like. It may yet grow on me as I work my way through the bottle, but so far I'm slightly disappointed. It's interesting, but I'm not sure it's quite enough to justify the not-inconsiderable price.
