You know you can get a a free version of Maya as well. Its called PLE (Personal Learning Edition); just download it from the Alias website........pretty much the same as regular version but no hair modeling and there's a watermark over the renderings.

25 yo male life is OK.....trying to find inspiration for a successful career in motion graphics/compositing...... i know how you feel about work sometimes. I feel exactly the same way. I think I just don't have enough people like me around to bounce ideas and concepts off of.

I think some of the sets are still valid. The Lithium Picnic sets are always amazing, but on the whole I agree that the standards are slipping a little bit.

I never really look at the sets anymore, I just use this site as a way to meet people who are into the same lifestyle / countercultures that I'm into. Plus it gives people something in common that they might not otherwise have.

Besides... if you need justification as to why you're on the site anymore... just go "because that awesome dude TheScottness is on here"

makin the drive across country i had no access to sg, and just got internet a handful of days ago so haven't been able to check out the downgraded sets but i have heard that from a couple people. i just hope it doesn't get too bad...

my bandmate, george (GL3), is from portland. i visited him there when i lived in atlanta. my choices were to move there, san fran or LA...i chose LA because of weather mostly. san fran is too expensive...portland, though i enjoy it in short bursts and tend to romanticize it, became very depressing to me after a week or so. so, i moved here and then he moved down...happy, happy...i'm about to visit seattle again, as i loved it on my last visit. seattle is the one place in the U.S. that i think i might consider moving when i'm bored with LA. similiar to portland but more of an actual city and i think it's prettier...less industrial.

yes, the lack of a constant paycheck is what drives my girlfriend crazy...and the constant stress of looking for jobs. she is a make-up artist...but not the one that our cd is about...she was a 7th grade english teacher for 6 years and just took a year off to pursue her artistic vision...

Yeah, the physical therapy is for my shoulder. I pulled some things in it while moving a washing machine for work. The doctor was concerned about it because I had dislocated the same shoulder 6 years ago, so she put me in 2 weeks of physical therapy.

oh well.. at least I only have 3 more weeks before I go back to LA.... ah. sunny weather. no rain.
