cable company = el diablo. When we moved in here in September, there was already cable hooked up, but we still had to call somebody to come out and switch it over to my name. So the guy came, but could not find my house so he called from his cell phone and was like "you live at 542?" and I said "no, I live at 452" and he said "but the form says 542" and I said "well I don't live there"... he seemed very confused by all this. Then after all that, when I came home from school the following day, the cable had been disconnected for some reason, so I had to call them and yell some more.

That's where you are wrong mister. I am going to be the new president and you are my running things into the ground mate. We will legalize Marijuana and outlaw granny panties. Our platform will also include but will not limited too, Alchohol sales on Sunday no matter the state, an intoxicated driving lane, if they are gonna do it at least let them do it in a controlled environement. We will also lobby congress for a ban on soccer moms. They will all be rounded up and sent to the soon to be built Eyesquads home for the normally insane where they will be re-trained for a life of high priced prostitution. They will then be released back into the wild so they may adapt and socialize.

I'm pretty sure you are, 'cause I sure as hell didn't snuggle with my brother! I just kinda curled up against his back to get some extra heat. I had chills, you evil man!

I'm almost done with Love Medicine, since I'm all laid up. I would love to be snuggling with you, but then I'd probably make you sick. That would be bad. I still miss you, though.smile

You make a very interesting point. I won't assassinate you cause ur smart!
strikinghelix:
"it would seem that, for all practical purposes, both animals and fetuses have the same anatomical structure"--I assume this is an error of phrasing rather than of concept. As it stands, I find it to be a rather asinine statement. Perhaps a baby chimpanzee is rather similar to a late-term human fetus. But "animals" means more than just things with hair and warm blood; this blanket statement is very misleading. It also implies that anatomical structure is the rule of thumb by which we should judge relatedness. I can assure you that, while a useful initial comparative tool, morphological similarities can be very deceptive. Biochemical makeup is a much better measure of true (evolutionary) similarity.

"most pro-choice people cite the fact that a fetus at such and such time during pregnancy is no different from a pig or cow, etc"--if this is so, then IMO most pro-choicers either 1) are ignorant about this topic OR 2) have unusual ideas about what really makes one organism similar to another. The similarities are there, but just because a comparison is obvious or easily made does not mean that it has significance in a given context.

Perhaps one reason for a vegetarian/pro-choice attitude is that people are more concerned about the perceived suffering of a living creature than the ending of its life. Some vegetarians don't eat meat because the animals supposedly endure pain on their way to your plate. And some people are against abortion because of the suffering that the birth of an unwanted child may cause (to others as well as itself); they suppose no life at all may be better than one full of abuse, poverty, misery, etc. It's a little harder to argue that a fetus experiences terrible agony as it's aborted.

My criticisms aside(sorry I am a biology geek), it's certainly an interesting question you pose. Myself, I am all for killing both animals and people alike--and sparing them as well, depending on the situation.

Didn't Rufus from Dogma say something about how it's better to have ideas instead of beliefs?...a bit wishy-washy, but wise nontheless, I think.

Malleability is good (when it comes to people, that is...steel may be a whole 'nother story).
