I am done with finals. Woo fucking hoo.

Torts was hard. I did well, I'm sure. (I'm actually really sure, considering the people in my section...) We got drunk in the parking lot after the final (at 11:30 in the morning). Bourbon, Tequila and Champagne: good stuff.

So now I'm waiting for some guys in my section to come pick me up to go to...

Feels good to be done, doesn't it. I definately know what you mean with that last line. I'm predicting three weeks of serious liver damage.

Congrats, and take care.

FINALS ARE HARD.
I THINK I FAILED CRIM LAW (stupid strict liability offenses--i prepared for murder with self-defense defense).

I have 24 hours to study for contracts, and 3 days to study for Torts.

i miss driving a truck. i miss cabbagetown.

Lucero rules.

as usual, I got sidetracked at the bookstore, and ended up buying more books than I initially wanted to. CS Lewis says:
"There is a difference between a real moral advance and a mere innovation. From the Confucian 'Do not do to others what you would not like them to do to you' to the Christian 'Do as you would be done by' is a...

"Want to go out tonight?"
"No, thanks. I'm gonna stay home tonight because I'm sick. It'll give me a chance to read all that shit they keep telling us to read...Blackstone's Commentaries, O.W. Holmes, etc."
"Oh."

So now I'm at home doing that. Which blows. Shit written in the old english that lawyers wrote in in the 1800's or whatever is almost unreadable. Which is...

While sittin in property class today, I came to the realization that:

  • one could, if one so wished, make a SHIT TON of money and never even have to pass the bar examination. You could just run around screwing people over and using your knowledge of silly law stuff to totally make a bazillion dollars.
  • history of property law is particularly depressing
  • property law is...

The Dandy Warhols aren't bad all the time. I beg to differ on the Pumpkins issue...I know the later stuff doesn't approach the earlier, but there are nights when all I want to hear is Adore.

My brother Daniel called our dog Bandit the canine Billy Corgan tonight.blush

You know my all-time favorite is Pisces Iscariot. I bought that album for a boy when it came out and kept if for myself.love

Only school. ONLY SCHOOL.

speaking of...must read contracts now.
geckogirl:
i see you didnt say 'no boning of random chicks'. nice that you built in that little loophole for yourself. wink
necia:
Awww. That's rough. frown

Necessary sometimes, but rough nonetheless.

And geckogirl points out something notable: at least leave yourself the "boning of random chicks" option, to ward off insanity. Contracts only hurts that much more when you're not getting laid. tongue

i would say no to your question. an affirmative defense or avoidance is essentially stating that even if what the plantiff states is true, i, the defendant still win. a statute limiting non-economic injuries based on professional negligence restricts what a plantiff can recovery if the plaintiff is successful on the merits of their suit, but does not allow a defendant to avoid responsibility for his actions. however, to be safe, I would listed in my responsive pleadings to the plaintiff's complaint because my failure to do so could bar me from arguing it later. See FRCP 8(d).

today, i attended a braves game. we started off 21 rows from home plate. after 7 innings, we went to the 5th row behind home plate. after a half inning more, we went to the second row, and were on tv.

so we stayed there, in the second best seats in the whole fucking stadium. it was so incredibly awesome, i can't even describe it....
