How long until I can justifiably do a 'looking back at the year' journal special? It's probably a couple of months away really, but I'm in the mood for a retro-fucking-spective extrava-fucking-ganza that ignores all the bad shit, focuses on all the good shit, and omits the shit I like to keep private.

I enjoyed it, even if Cary Elwes acting made me madder than Hell.
Dude, seriously!
Chris Isaak is the fucking best. He played for two hours, and played lots of songs I love like Dancin',Heart-Shaped World, Wicked Game and his beautiful version of Only The Lonely.
I officially have the biggest, gayest crush on him and I demand he come back again and again and play gigs every night.
Yes, safe to say...

What I have to say is the truth...what you all to say isn't......

Dear Heather is pretty good. I only got it yesterday, so I haven't listened to it much yet. I really love his last album Ten New Songs. Dear Heather isn't as good, but there is some good stuff on it. It is definitely better than The Future, for instance.
I'm seeing Chris Isaak next week! Yes! It's the first gig I have to pay for in bloody ages, but I'm sure it will be worth it. I own all of his albums, can play most of his songs on guitar and officially have a totally gay crush on him. Did you know he's 49? Cor blimey, he's looking good isn't he?

I have to give you a shout about the Wilson gig ... mediapuzzle also sounds up for it. I'll try calling tonight, probably from landline as stupid me hasn't done anything about stupid mobile yet.
Rocket Science on Friday night were good. I drank cheap pints of Stella Artois beforehand, and they went down a goddamn treat.
Grinspoon on Saturday were fucking outrageous. They played the South East suburb of Revesby, a real exemplar of the Australian suburban experience. The kids there went nuts. Brilliant show.

Watcha doing on Wednesday evening? I'll be officially at a loose end, and I thought if you wanted to give Adrian and Lindsay a shout, maybe see if they're up for a drink or sumfink.
I'll actually get my phone activated tomorrow, oh yes I will.

Fun night.
Judged the World Battle Of The Bands, as is usual for a Tuesday night. It's a shame they stopped giving us open reign over the bar, but I understand that us drinking $120 worth between three people may have antagonised them a little.
Post-judging, a mate and I went to the Townie (the place to go on a Tuesday night at 1am) and...

beer is good that way.. maybe we need to push for alcohol to be issued in parliament when they need to debate anything, however i fear it would turn into a brawl.. stupid politicians..
I have never been less proud to be Australian.
Sometimes I think we've come such a long way. Sometimes it feels like we're heading towards something good and right. Sometimes it feels as if, when we say 'a fair go for all,' we might really mean it.
I'm saddened and embarassed by my countrymen.
This is a terrible day to be Australian.

Early on in the campaign, I was feeling hopeful. Over the last 2 weeks, this hope dwindled. The more I read, the less I liked it. Now, today, I just feel ... numb. Howard's attitude to ... well, just about everything ... kills me. But his eagerness to bypass the State Governments particularly makes my blood run cold.
I hate hating people. And today I hate so many people...

It's election day. This is my column from The Brag, which comes out on Monday:
The problem with political jokes is they get elected. The famous-just-for-this-quote Henry Cate, VII.
By the time this goes to print, the election will be decided. Either Latham or Howard will have been emblazoned on the cover of the paper, and champagne bottles will have been popped at someones...

Dude, someone's been lying to you then!
No, I guess it isn't too bad. Culture differences are hard to deal with at times...but the land itself is pretty cool.
Looks like America might be facing the same fate you guys did last month.
fuck.
Still some states to report though...keeping my fingers crossed.
