How long until I can justifiably do a 'looking back at the year' journal special? It's probably a couple of months away really, but I'm in the mood for a retro-fucking-spective extrava-fucking-ganza that ignores all the bad shit, focuses on all the good shit, and omits the shit I like to keep private.
Best Things Of 2004:
1. Getting over the shitness and bad times that made last year a terribly ugly one in many ways. Realising that the badness of last year wasn't my fault.
2. Turning 20 and hence feeling oldish, sort of, maybe, almost, perhaps. At least, not 19.
3. Feeling like I know where I want my career to go, and making some pretty good efforts to get there. Seeing my writing get better as I do it more. Getting 100+ articles published in a year.
4. Meeting heaps of cool people, seeing lots of theatre, gigs and so on and listening to lots of new albums for free that I wouldn't otherwise if I wasn't writing.
5. Finally writing some songs I actually like and finally having most of the instruments I want to be able to write them.
6. Discovering some of the secrets and history and stories of the city I live in. Really feeling like Sydney is 100% my home.
