As the star of such 80s classics as Action Jackson and Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol, Sharon Stone was the object of many film geeks fantasies. She increased that demographic when she became an international star with the lead in Basic Instinct and later her Oscar nomination for Casino. Now Stone is reprising her role as the bisexual murderess Catherine Tramell in the sequel...

I think Sharon Stone is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood and I'm looking forward to seeing the character of Catherine Tramell come back to the screen. I hope this sequel does at least SOME partial justice to the original (although by the sound of Anton's comment, it doesn't). Still, I'm willing to see for myself. Great interview!

I totally agree with her last answer about nudity in films. I love this woman.
Doing the interview with Veronica Monet was the first time Ive ever talked with a professional escort that didnt end up costing me $300. Monet is a semi-retired escort that has just written the book, Sex Secrets of Escorts. It details all the things men want that she has gleaned from her 15 years of servicing men. While some may look down on the idea...

I have not studied the NZ system or Holland that well but I do know in Australia it depends on the state with it being legal in some and not in others. But in places like NSW and ACT by law safe sex has to be practiced at all times and the last time I checked those working in brothels had to have helth checks which is a fair call really more so for the sake of those working then clinets. Other then that is like any other job. I see no problem with prostituion and I am an avid supporter legalisation and allowing to to happen. It helps a lot of lonely and shy men for companionship even for a short time. A friend of mine who works as one has often had men pay for several hrs and all they did was just lie there and hold each other no nudity or sex just the companioship.
I feel the things like porn and prostituion being open empower women not degrade them. These women take control of their lives and do what they want. I take my hat of to them. Why should men be able to do what they want and not women and the same men still expect it from women just not for them to be happy, open and enjoying themselves.
Ladies heres to you and takeing it to them men.

This is a really interesting interview and I respect Monet for the power that she has in shaping her own destiny...however, I do disagree on one point that she made.....If a woman wants to start baking and selling Mrs. Fields cookies, she has to uphold certain kitchen health and safety standards as regulated by her local government and even sometimes beyond that. I think that if you are running a business where someone could potentially get an STD (or for the Mrs. Fields baker, salmonella poisoning) you should certainly have to get monthly health checks and if your employees (or whores, or work environment) is/are not 100% free of any health concerns/STD's, those who are carriers of anything should not be allowed to work (I am not, however for big fines- sooo unfair no matter the business!). I do think it's cool how in NZ, though they only have to pay taxes like any other small business- that is fair.
Its hard to believe that its been ten years since The Prodigy broke into the mainstream with their catchy techno-like hits Smack My Bitch Up and Firestarter. Well now before The Prodigy releases new material on us later this year enjoy a collection of all their hits with Their Law: Singles 1990-2005.

Whatever. They wait for Outgunned was unexcuseable. And 10 years? I bought the Everybody In The Place 12" in 1991 before Experience broke here in the US. I was going to "parties" in dirty wharehouses in SF and it sounded so different from all the other cheesey crap that was getting played at the time. I stuck with em through Fat Of The Land, but the wait was JUST. TOO. LONG. for Outgunned. Please don't do that shit again Liam.
Ever wonder what happened to your favorite punk rockers? well perhaps they became a Mormon like Arthur Killer Kane of the New York Dolls did. Perhaps that was why Kane allowed Mormon filmmaker Greg Whiteley follow him around for months including to the New York Dolls reunion in London. Greg Whiteley turned all of his footage into a great documentary, New York Doll, which is...

I highly recommend this film!!! I saw it the day it was released to DVD and was just blown away by it. It's a very moving and compelling story. I plan on buying it to watch over and over as soon as I have the money. The extra features are great as well. Even if you are not a NEW YORK DOLLS fan (I already was) I think any fan of music or music history wil enjoy it. Though I already knew the "ending" before I watched it, the way it was handled was very touching and elegant for lack of a better word. I hope Mr. Greg Whitely has continued success either as a documentarian or a mainstream filmmaker.
jonasgrumby:
This was a great movie. I'm surprised Whiteley agreed to be interviewed for this site; good for him.
Brick is a rarity in really low budget independent film, its exciting and dynamic. To break it down its a film noir set in a southern California high school. Film noir is the most malleable genre out there. You can do comedy, romance, action and now a high school movie all within this shroud of violence, sexy women and drugs.

Its a good time to be Clive Owen. In the past year hes received an Oscar nomination for Closer, had a big role in the groundbreaking Sin City and made out with Jennifer Aniston in Derailed. Now hes starring in the bank heist film Inside Man alongside Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster and directed by Spike Lee.

If I were to chose to be someone other than myself, I would hope I could be as classy as Clive. That name rocks!
Matthew McConaughey is very much like the characters hes played in a few of his movies. Hes easy going, laid back, charming and very easy to talk to. He plays another one of those guys in the romantic comedy Failure to Launch. His character Trip is a wealthy boat broker who still lives with his parents at age 35! So his parents hire Sarah Jessica...

Paul Mooney is one of the funniest comedians ever. He has never been as acclaimed as some of his peers like Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy. Not only is he is raw, real and sometimes even scary but he never lets up. He pushes the limits of the audience, sometimes to the point where even though they know the joke is funny they arent sure...

Wim Wenders is one of the greatest film directors in history. Films like Until the End of the World, Buena Vista Social Club and The State of Things have pointed social commentary but also are fascinating character portraits. His previous collaboration with reknown playwright Sam Shepard, Paris, Texas, is a high point for independent film and now they have reunited as director and screenwriter for...

This is so great that this interview is up today, because he stopped by at my (film) school today and gave an interview for us, since he's on a tour promoting the film. He's one of my favorite directors, and I highly suggest those who don't know his work to check him out.
Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire, Until the End of the World, Faraway, So Close!, The End of Violence, The Million Dollar Hotel...all wonderful films.
Alas, I could take no pictures, since I ended up on the crew that was filming him.
He stayed for about an hour, most of which was spent in conversation with the interviewer. At the end, only 4 questions were squeezed in, one of them mine.
I asked him about his use of music from popular musicians in his films and why he was attracted to those artists and one finds the right music for a film, and he replied about his friendships with musicians and his fascination with rock & roll, and told a delightful little story about how in his early filmmaking days, he'd be up editing film, with no sound, and he'd play along records to the segments, and how he thought that was wonderful.
He's a very witty, intelligent guy. Tall too. He said "Hi" to me as he came in the studio.
