Why does Chick-Lit always happen in New York? Why does it always involve the publishing industry? Why not lumberjacking or stenography or firefighting or the medical industry...? Seriously?

Is every girls dream to work for a crazy company in new york and have two hour long lunches drinking Appletinis? Not to say it's conclusive proof, but the few girls I've met who've worked in PR or whathaveyou in NY hated it.

The only thing that is required to substantiate happiness in New York is money... All of the extra fluff, the posh job, the collumn, is just icing on the cake to add flavour to the story. the happy ending is always the big catch man, the audacious bad boy who's too bad to stay away from, the Cosmos, and the Manolo Blahnik shoes.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is so getting it's makeover now.

i finally have a chance to comment on this; good interview, i wish you would've gotten to have more time with him for something more in depth. still haven't caught this picture, looks like i may have to wait for the dvd. leigh's films have a way of looking at the aspects of humanity in a very different way than other filmmakers- i admire his work greatly. interesting point about how the actors never seem to be searching for words, i never thought of that. i've made a couple of short films in a similiar fashion to his, the first about 13 years ago well before i'd ever become aware of his work. i dunno, it seems that if actors know the intent of the scene and the things they're meant to get across they find the words to do so in their persona (but it helps to have good talent and mutual trust on both sides of the camera). once again, good read.
