Thank you guys so much for reading my play. I really love you for it. I'm seeing that piece in a new light now.
If you didn't get to see the second scene see my last post (October 19th).
Anyway, I just posted this argument to wonderful phroggzilla on the Silliness Board. He was insinuating that after already getting some sexing today (boyfriend, AM), my... Read More
For your reading pleasure, Something Like Love, Scene 2.
Last we left off, proud Jane left sensitive Jeffrey's apartment with sweet overly-talkative Donna, having convinced herself that nothing has to change.
Remember how I said this play is ALL fall-out?
Well, it's confession time everybody!!
Enjoy...
...and please let me know what you think of the ending!
You really do have an acute sense of what to express and what to leave to the reader, which really makes the play move along powerfully. And your ability to express the ironic humor of such an extreme situation gives it a lot of emotional punch.
Have you ever written anything that was realized on stage?
As promised, Something Like Love, a play that deals solely with fallout. Come one come all, and listen to people talk about their feelings! Here is the first scene (I'm sorry it is so long! I didn't know where to break it best!)
You may not relate to it right away, but then again you might. Have you ever fallen for someone you really,... Read More
i added a bit to the story in my friends thread..three quick bits that came to my last night when I was on silliness.
I have more in me today, and I will share that with you when it leaves my brain, and gets life breathed into her.
Thank you for reading my play! (If you haven't, and you'd like to, go back to the blog entry from October 10th.) I've had the problem that all the people I've asked to read it have known the guy it's based on, so all I got were comments about how accurately I portrayed him. That's wasn't enough to know if there was anything good in... Read More
It is time for the conclusion of David's Gods, but before that...
I go the DVD! I'm so happy. I haven't watched it yet, and I imagine it will be awhile before I can transfer what is on the disc to my computer hard drive (help!). This is the DVD of the Experience Vocal-Dance filming last August (it's what all those pretty... Read More
I don't know enough about the stage to really comment on the dramaturgy, but I thought it was fascinating. I also - somewhat regrettably - identify with the David character and his struggles. Now that's a long story. I probably need to write about it too!
I saw Donizetti's Lucis di Lammermore at the Metropolitan opera on Tuesday night. My gods, I was swept away. Mary Zimmerman's direction was exquisite (I love it when non-opera people direct opera). Best of all was Natalie Dessay at Lucia. She considers herself an actress before a singer, so it must be incidental that she sounds like a dream. Her physicality during... Read More
Wow! How could you have hidden this talent of yours from me for so long? Shame on you
I had to go back to your previous blog and read the first part. I love it so far! For some reason it reminds me of growing up Catholic. I can't wait to read the rest
Given that, I would take *twenty* pages of argument.
I can't say anything that does this proper justice... other than that I very much look forward to the rest.
NEWS:
Still have no job. I continue to search. I am no longer listing Friday mornings as a conflict. I'll simply change the rehearsal time for EVDC (this won't be easy, but it must be done). There are no other options at this point if I am to stay with... Read More
Thanks for your thoughts. You are a great firiend!
I am not moving....the chances of the 3 of us to gettin together...are pretty slim. On the other hand you and I are more likely. We live a lot closer and I travel to NYC often.
I'm with InnocentSid... second/second. Although, really as far as the plays, I'd say second *first*, because I would very much enjoy seeing the first, second.
Tim, my boyfriend's best friend (of over ten years) got married this past Saturday. My hubby was the best man. He looked terrific.
It was a really nice wedding. I got to meet the rest of the gang, which was just wonderful (if nerve-wracking). Drinking, dancing, laughing, all the good stuff. I'm starting to love my boyfriend's pals (if not their dates), and so far... Read More
xxtmntxx has opted, instead of a Halloween picture, to give himself a Halloween name! In this case, mine. He could do it because he used uppercase "I" instead of L. SO if you see two Allegros around Silliness, they're not both me.
Ok dude, just don't give me a bad name. Or a worse one, I guess.
It seems, thankfully, that the doctor was right. This ick is passing on its own, however slowly. Not everything will pass, as allergies have returned and that means a host of problems for little singing me, but the fever broke (again) and it seems like its gone for good. While swelling hasn't disappeared, it has visibly lessened making... Read More
First off you should not read too much into why you did not get the job. There is noting you can do now about it, so dust off and try again. Blaming yourself will only make it harder next time. Have faith that things will work out. Being positive is the best way to deal with things when you have a set back. I am confident that you will do great!
A lot of what you're saying, and experiencing, fits in with things I've been thinking about myself. Depression [even occasional and temporary], and self-doubt suck, and the absence of a dream can leave a big hole in one's life.
But I believe in you. And you are going to find that "something"... of this, I have no doubt. You haven't failed... you've merely yet to find exactly where to *attempt*.
I am sick. I've been sick for three days. I went to the doctor today and while she can see the infection, she thinks it is going away on its own so I shouldn't fil a prescription for antibiotics unless I'm this miserable for another three days.
Ugh...
I'm not terribly sick. Meds are keeping the fever down and the pain and swelling in my... Read More
I am looking forward to hearing the back story, very much.
So, darling......may I watch you eat lobster ravioli? That would be almost as good as eating it myself
