@onyxstorm There aren't even rudimentary classes that teach someone how to write a check or balance them. It's insane. Parents these days, even in the middle class, are "too busy" to teach their kids all these things, and yet when these kids turn 18 they're plunged into this world of finances that they have no idea how to do anything in. That's absolutely insane. And well, there are of course always going to be some people who are outliers/exceptions, but I think if the government gave everyone fair warning and education about saving for retirement, then it's considered fair. If we gave everyone equal access to knowledge about how to better themselves, it isn't for the government to act as a safety net for those who don't want to learn or don't want to listen. I think in circumstances like an injured elderly person, or the like, then the government should create a federal insurance company (or, let's say, socialized healthcare?) to help those people. But even then, there are obviously always going to be issues that arise out of that kind of a system as well. I just wish the government would even try to give everyone equal opportunity to education. =/
