So my 30's are now measured in hours not days, weeks, months, or years... 40 seemed so old to me when I was 20... and even 30, but now it seems like an old friend waiting for me to say hi. Before I go any further a pause for a guy who lived like a rockstar and truly loved animals...

In 40 years, I have seen the following memorable events in no order:

The first shuttle tragedy, and then the second,
A president's son become president,
A great man who stood for civil rights taken far too soon,
Felt the earth move from a terrorist bomb which was a harbinger of the tragedy to come,
The births and deaths of my baby girls.

I have been in love, and lost love as well,
I have held newborn bunnies and raised them until they left,
I have found the perfect canine companion
and met my true soul mate, who I strive to be a better man for, day after day.

Though I stumble, and generally fall, I know the next 40 years can be better than the first.

PS 40 is the new 30! And to all who celebrated my last drinking event, thanks for partying with me like a rockstar!
