Sonnet VIIHartley Coleridge Is love a fancy, or a feeling? No.
It is immortal as immaculate Truth,
‘Tis not a blossom shed as soon as youth,
Drops from the stem of life—for it will grow,
In barren regions, where no waters flow,
Nor rays of promise cheats the pensive gloom.
A darkling fire, faint hovering o’er a tomb,
That but itself and darkness nought doth show,
It is my love’s being yet it cannot die,
Nor will it change, though all be changed beside;
Though fairest beauty be no longer fair,
Though vows be false, and faith itself deny,
Though sharp enjoyment be a suicide,
And hope a spectre in a ruin bare.
I suspect the same infallible logic is being masterfully and responsibly used to solve problems on SG. Gulliver and the Lilliputians would be so proud their culture is alive and well.
@xheartswornx I get what you mean. I dated a man very briefly who was 47 last year. His only relationship experience was all short term, nothing every amounted to anything serious. I didn't realize what a hurdle that was actually going to be. It sounds like you have a leg up on him though. I think you just need to find someone who appreciates you, and is patient. I'm starting to feel that at this stage in the game, even though we all may be getting short on time, it might be best to take things slow. Like... actually get to know a person? That way no one is making uninformed decisions. Eyes Wide Open. I'm tired of investing a bunch of romantic wonderful years into a person only to learn they left a bunch of key details out of their story.
@franie You're a pitcher? Awesome. You are even more Vixen in my eyes now. =p But, seriously. How cool. What was your best pitch? How fast did your fastball get and what pitches were in your repertoire? If you don't mind sharing, that is...
In my college pitcher days, I threw about 88. Not too fast. My best pitch was a curveball. Overall, I threw two-seam and four-seam fastballs. The curveball. A mediocre slider. Funny thing is I only developed the feel for a changeup once I was done with college ball. I was a left handed relief specialist. I would face a left handed hitter or two and be out of the game.
