Pertaining To The Gifted, "Pushy" Xtians, And The Stressed : The 39 Week 34 Round Up/Update [T39W34RU/U]
according to our daughters' school, our eldest daughter is "gifted" - not necessarily a surprise for many factors, including that they had wanted to jump her ahead a grade previously...
not bad for a 7yr old - and I give the ex-wife kudos for this, she's the one with the intellect, after all...
( hate to naysay my relatives who were always "you did so good in school" ... but not according to the grades I received in school, I didn't
if I actually gave a shiite about the class, I may've gotten an A or a B, depending on how hard I actually gave a demn
the classes I couldn't care less about I skated by with a C - or a D if I was particularly "meh" about it...
history was one of those where I perpetually risked failing - until one particular teacher, Mr Sage, actually made it interesting )
because I'm not a xtian I continue to receive hatred-infused bile from random quarters at least monthly, so in that regards...
in reply to someone on fb asking how I'm raising my kids ::
"our children are being raised secularly, religion isn't brought up unless asked about - if they someday show interest in religion it will hopefully be with a studied and educated viewpoint, as we are teaching them to approach every aspect of learning and life. my ex-wife, being where the girls main source of intelligence comes from [...], covers more of that basis of their upbringing while I build upon the imagination and creativity portions as possible - though we obviously cross paths on these as well (who knows when or which of us they'll query).
if the girls do ask about religion, there are books that cover the multitude of them nicely (as there are, after all, thousands of beliefs stemming from hundreds of sources) and if they wish to delve deeper, so be it and we'll by no means limit their information but rather broaden it so that all information and options are evident."
and the ex's POV when I mentioned my reply (edited) ::
"it's none of [their] GODDAMN business how we raise our kids. They will be taught to honor and respect all religions not just the all mighty war starting religion of christianity. Our girls will be allowed to make their own educated decision when I/we feel they are sufficiently versed in as many different religions as we can educate them on...no brainwashing as soon as they're out the whom in this family. Unless it's on something useful like how to deal with people who are overzealous bible bangers..."
...so at least both the ex and I are on the same page with this one - keep your religion out of our family, will ya?
and our schools while you're at it, mmm-kay? I've already, deeply, explained to one confused fb'er how public schooling has always been secular and I don't feel like dredging up all the links, etc. for the benefit of others like him who wouldn't change their minds if the truth was threatened to be tattooed on their assholes...
seriously, look it up yourself (and not on your biblically-askewed xtian websites, mmm-kay? that is NOT the place to find actual truth, thank you very little).
I've never understood - and probably never will - why people obsess and stress about things that they cannot change nor actually affects them in any way...
maybe it's just me, but even if there IS something that affects me but it's not something I can change, then - in my opinion - why worry about it?
example ::
"[stress-related babbling inanity]"
"Is this something you can affect or change in the near future?"
"no, but..."
"Is this something that affects you personally, your family, friends, relatives, work...?"
"NO, BUT [repeat stress-related babbling inanity - usually louder]"
ANYways... that's about it for this week's episode
tune in next week for... well, who in the 7 hells actually knows - it's not like I script or plan out these things...
I guess your only actual incentive may be... temporary boredom relief?
