In roughly 48hrs, I will have my feet planted in DC

2 weeks of relaxation, iconic sightseeing, historical absorption...
arts & independence, monuments & the metro, eclectic & american, politics & pedestrians...
from the many neighbourhoods of the District itself to Alexandria & Arlington...
with a few visits to Lodges in DC & Virginia, and a multitude of possibilities & multiple locales to take in...

These are those days where it's not warm, but "nice" enough where you can hit the ol' watering hole for some nice convo, have a convo or two with some oldschool bikers en route back home, & see some neighbour children out-and-about & ask 'em how their folks are doing :) nice :)

dreamage : living in a 3-story home with the 'old' cats... and an owl that enjoyed perching/riding on our shoulders !

I've been not only lucky but honoured in my life knowing and having known a wide variance of people - from race, nationality, belief, political & social position, 'status' in life, etc
it wasn't how I was raised, but learned, unquestionably variety IS the spice of life...

In a 'mere' 4wks will be waking up along the Washington Channel to my 1st full day of ~2wks in DC ! A trip I had initially semi-planned w/ my father in mind a couple yrs before his passing (as well as future Poland trip), so he'll be w/ me in heart & mind, since not in body

As one w/ extreme & varied food allergies, eating out w/ others *can* be a challenge, but one learns 1) it's not about you, but the company, you can always eat later, 2) to politely decline even insistent hosts, 3) be prepared as some people *will* be offended or "disbelieve"

I can only be me - the man that I am & always have been - BUT every day I strive to be the best me that I can be, be it for myself, my family, my friends I consider family, & everyone I may happen to come across that day, I want to be the best me that I am

Before 6a, fri morning, single-digit temps w/ negative windchill, & 1st thing I see leaving the apt is a jogger - in shorts! - slip on the icy sidewalk ... the hell ? They lose a bet ? Killer ninja game of truth or dare ? Or just MN insanity ?!?

In a mere 9 weeks I'll be in DC ( I know, I know, "is that all he talks and posts about?" *smirks* )
but I'm excited to not only be taking a vacation again, but to be taking a vacation to the truly historical center of this nation

21yrs since I moved to the Cities ! the Frids to SLP to MV to Brooklyn Park and got the 7 hells outta there into New Hope ( all in an 8yr span ! )... still so strange having been in one area, let alone one 'burb of said area, for so long a time... unusual for my life !

I'm assuming a couple broke up last night, the apt complex lobby had carefully torn in half couple photos and a crushed box of candy hearts ... 'course, I could be wrong in this assumption, it's early, but...

Still have 2 more weeks vaca ( less one using today for funeral ) that I need to schedule before Sept - any reccommends for multiple dates ? ...no car rentals this year, so I'd either be local or need a ride. Not May either, my 2 weeks in DC are already set then :)
