28 Days Later: Verdict: Good movie. Not a Zombie flick, but still cool to watch. Three point five stars.

Crash: Verdict: Very good movie, but not for everyone. Brilliant performances all around, even Sandra Bullock. Four stars.

Haven't seen 28 days later yet.

Crash was good though. I liked not only the all the big names they cast, but to me it was a well thought out movie. I didn't get to give it my critical breakdown like I do with some movies...(usually the bad ones) I was just into what was going on.
Didn't like Sandra Bullocks character too much, (I guess that was the point) but what better person to play the roll then her and her whiney self.
maraxia:
Did you not find that the people in 28 days later were far too.... I dont know. TOO british? It's like they tried to deliberately pick people who didnt sound posh. Not everyone is a cockney or a geordie or whatever, its never from some backwards little town where they have three actors and only a slight british twang. Thats my main concern with brits in films. Generally we either sound like trumped up ponces, or common as muck idiots only good for slapstick humour. There have been some good brits in the movies, dont get me wrong... but generally we're typecast (as a nation) as either being tea drinking, cucumber sandwich eating, croquet playing nonces, or smash you over the head with a bottle of newcastle brown ale, and too stupid to spell newcastle, yobs.
Hmph.
Had a good storyline at least. Nice to see we're trying to push ourselves into the world market with something that appeals to people biggrin
My apologies, I do whine a lot. Just never mention star wars episode three to me!
Try as I might, I can't remember what question I was going to ask you. Bugger.
Good luck with the next podcasts smile

If you've ever had one of those days where you're just cranky all the time and all you can think to say is, "I am so sick of this bullshit," then you know exactly how I feel today.

Yep - many times. I just head home and play with Kiowa (my dog) for an hour or two. She always convinces me that it is all workable.

Over at DailyKos, they're calling the Governator the one-term-inator.

That's fucking brilliant.

Kos himself also notes:

Arnold made a big show of being an asshole the first two years of his governorship, running a Bush-style divisive operation. Now, with his ass handed to him in a hideously expensive and wholly unecessary special election, he expects Democrats to help bail him out?

While Democrats...

Heh. Ahhhnold has been airly quiet after his first few years. Apparently the novelty of an actor as governor (*cough* Reagan *cough) is beginning to wear thin.

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger: Fuck you, Moron.

Thanks for wasting our time and money, douchebag. This unnecessary special election, which was nothing more than a pathetic powergrab, and an effort to drain the coffers of your opponents in advance of next year's real election, ended up costing more than 300 million dollars. Why don't you cancel your stupid "trade mission" to China, where you're just going...

huh. but didn't you californians vote him in in the first place?

this is why i don't live in los angeles...that and the lack of smoking anywhere. confused miao!!
wilwheaton:
I didn't vote for that stupid motherfucker, but I know a lot of equally stupid motherfuckers who did.

No joke, I heard a woman tell my wife that she was voiting for Schwarzenegger because, "I really like his movies, so I think he'll be a great governor."

He's finished, and his puppet-master Pete Wilson is finished, too.

Last night, my wife Anne was on the phone with one of her friends, and I heard her say, ". . . my husband."

I love that. I love it that I'm her husband.

Nice :-)

As with the great oak, love begins as a fragile sapling; each year gaining strength until neither the winds of Hell nor the wrath of Heaven can uproot it.

Which is a smaltzy way of saying congrats on 6, I wish you 60 more.

I can't believe it's Friday already. This week has blown past me at light speed.

I used to look forward to the end of the week, but these days I can't help but feel like I'm one week closer to dyin'

I had a meeting with an agent tonight.

He asked me, "What do you want to do? What's your five year plan?"

"I want to write," I said.

Youve been published. You should direct one of your publishers her way (Lily.) I bet her autobiography would be fascinating. Might need the help of a ghost writer to put it into an autobiographical novel form.

Hey I finally saw your episode of csi in reruns last night, and you did a bangup job. I know you want to write, but I felt it needed to be said. biggrin

Tonight it's carving punkins, passing out candy to little ghouls, and letting whatever marathon of classic horror movies is on cable run in the background while we drink beer and eat chili.

This is my favorite holiday ever, because I get to good off like a little kid, and nobody can stop me.

Happy Halloween, everyone.

I spent most of today watching Battlestar Galactica.

I started with the miniseries, watched two regular episodes, and five hours later I only stopped because I needed to go with my wife to the store.

BSG is much much more than just a SciFi show. In fact, it is a complex, challenging, and very satisfying human drama that happens to take place in outerspace.

Firefly...

Indeed, I agree totally. My girlfriend and I started watching it this season and we saw every episode. We looked forward to each one so much.

We missed season 1, so I will be buying it for my girl for Christmas, she will be happy .

My favorite Sci Fi series of all time though is still Babylon 5..but BSG is so so close. The scripts / stories are just amazing. The cast all do an amazing job as well. Can't wait for season 3!
dybbuk:
So true-so much money was saved on Friday night bar tabs thanks to Galactica. The poorest sci-fi seems to be worst-case scenario projections (post-apocalyptic crap). The best scifi is a metaphor for a current day problem wrapped in the future. Forbidden Planet's Id Monsters were nuclear weapons. TNG was about morality supporting technology, and the ways we can all benefit. BSG questions the meaning of humanity. Aside from really compelling plots, there are so many layers of myth. . .January can't come soon enough. I gotta get the DVD's.

Tonight, I listened to Ghouls With Attitude as I played Zombies!!! with my stepson Nolan.

The best part? When Nolan got home from school today, I said, "Hey, how was school?"

Nolan said, "It was fine. When are we going to play Zombies!!!?"

I don't know how many SG members are parents or stepparents, but I can tell you we live for moments like...

"He's a vile, detestable, moralistic person with no heart and no conscience who believes he's been tapped by God to do very important things,"

Believe it or not, this is a White House Ally talking about Patrick Fitzgerald.

Funny, I can't think of a better way to describe George W. Bush.

Yeah, that's pretty much spot on for Bush. Too bad the quote isn't referring to him.

I've been loving watching the rifts developing in the Bush Cabal lately. The fortress is cracking, and I love it. Unfortunatly, the Dems have (as usual) been too pathetic and unorganized to take advantage of it.
liquidflorian:
I thought you were ripping on Shatner again...

Supposedly Orielly will have a peice on the "left wing spear campain" or some thing like that. I have a hard time believing in conspiracies. The only large groups of people who can pull of complex operations is the military. No one else has the individual discapline.

Too bad you can't televise a gand jury inquest.
