Things have been going pretty well. Still on active duty. One month left and there's three short work weeks of the four because of Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving. Ready to get off active duty; just not sure exactly what is next. have a lot to do to get back into school. I've been dragging my feet a little. Time to get really working on it....

Sounds like you've been having a great time back in the States.
That Quelf game looks awesome. I'm always looking for new group activities for this mentoring program I'm involved in, and I think I'm going to get Quelf for it. I saw on Amazon you can just buy a set of cards, which might work better for bigger groups. I'm glad you posted that!

In a way it takes the pressure off because I know they'll have lots to connect and talk about so it will be nice to have them all together. I'm sure we'll hear interesting stories about each other. It's amazing how much support we're getting from the families. Shit, I need to make a toast...

I'll just pause right here to point out how ridiculously awesome my friends are.
One more insane week of getting everybody thru all the administrative hoops and on a plane back to Texas. Will have the last group of our guys back in the US by the end of the weekend. Then back to Texas with some time off and then doing I don't know what until my active time is up. For the time being I'm mostly hanging...

A wild weekend spent driving up to LA with some other Sergeants to watch the University of Texas play UCLA at the Rose Bowl. The plan was to head back to base after the game. Yeeeeeeeaaaah...that didnt happen. Ended up in Old Town Pasadena until 2am and somehow managed to make it into a hotel room on the 12th floor of the Wilshire downtown. UT...

Back at work after an awesome Labor Day weekend up in the Bay Area visiting good friends. Spent good time with datsun and her new little family. Her little monkey is adorable and it was great to meet the guy.

Had a lot of fun hanging out with her and her partner and the extended family, watching goofy movies, watching lil dude, and just generally...

It was so good to see you! Glad we could fill your gastronomical tank with awesomesauce. Mmmmm....cinnamon bun apple pie will happen again sometime. Thanks for participating in the first fire in my new backyard campground and witnessing the creation of the pokie stick.
Last night we continued the epic journey of what else we can cook over the campfire in the backyard with a chicken pot pie. We covered the dutch oven in coals. It was so delicious.

Morning run in the fog shrouded hills, an unrushed shower and pot of hot coffee on returning. Settling down to a good book. My weekend is starting off pretty well so far!

LOL...i totally read that wrong the first time I thought you wrote...had some POT. LOL. Note to self...stop using my phone to log onto SG and just use my desk top. I can't see anything on my phone.

Ahhhh . . . that sounds pretty awesome.
I usually run at 6am, and lately it's been dark when I start out. The days are getting shorter.
But it's usually starting to get lighter as I return home.
What are you reading? I'm on the 2nd Song of Ice and Fire book, and I'm still loving the series.

Back at Pendleton, enjoying the life. I've eaten all kinds of fast food (but also gone for early morning, fog-shrouded, runs in the hills around base) and slept in a real bed and all that for a couple days now. It's bliss. Dealing with all the administrative junk that goes with being back and that's ok. Surreal to go from Afghanistan to Kyrgyzstan to California...

Glad to hear Alex and Clementine were able to meet up, though. You, Lagomorphic matchmaker you!
Once again, you have quite the way with words. What's funny is, at one point in time, my name on a dating website was lagomorphic.
