There is a lizard coiled tightly around the base of my brain. He loves squeezing and constricting every time I am close to poetic genius or reaching literary orgasm. His little tricks confuse and terrify me, turn my fun into fear and his scritching makes a mess of my yarn. I thumb wrestle with him daily in hopes that this will satisfy his trickster ways...

I will speak for love that challenges the heart,
that makes us wider and more spacious beings
stretching us beyond that which we were before.

These loves are rich: passion and pain entertwined like roots, tangled origins
confusion about what is mine and what is yours,
a dense forest of need and suffering obscuring the truth.

I can recall that kind of love with tenderness...

my new ink thanks to the folks at Tiger Tiger Tattooo in Seattle. This is Oya - She Who Turnsz and Changes. It is isn't quite finished yet but she's healed and ready for more details and color.

More on Oya .....
Oya is the powerful Yoruban Orisha of the winds and tempests. She is considered either the sister of the storm-god Shango, or one...

I want to see you.

Know your voice.

Recognize you when you first come 'round the corner.

Sense your scent when I come into a room you've just left.

Know the lift of your heel, the glide of your foot.

Become familiar with the way you purse your lips then let them part, just the slightest bit, when I lean in to your space and...

Chili cool off today! We have created a chili made of bourbon molasses chipotle chicken, bacon, ground turkey, cold brew coffee, fire roasted poblanos, corn, onions and tomatoes and black beans.

What the heck do I call it? Thus far the I'm leaning towards is "chuck Norris Oatmeal" ... But I'd really like some suggestions - help a girl out will ya?

Just wanted to drop the name of one of my favorite poets ever. You probably know her stuff already but in the event you do not, Linda Gregg. "Sacraments Of Desire" is my favorite collection of her poems but all of them are pretty great. I'm still enjoying Erica Jong's poems, thanks to you.

How was your performance?
mattacme:
Looking forward to hearing about the show on the 25th. Sounds like I will be designated driver for a few of us North Bay types. Really looking forward to getting some face time with my fellow are SGers. To date the only person from here I have met is Thistle, who I hope to see there as well. Excited!

Last night of my performance in Machine: A Fire Opera a little sad but also welcoming having my life back to normal whatever that means as if there ever was a normal in my world.

Been listening to Lovage: Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By... Book of the Month is still one of my favorites ever

"In my practice, I've seen how people have allowed their humanity to drain away. Only it happened slowly instead of all at once. They didn't seem to mind... All of us - a little bit - we harden our hearts, grow callous. Only when we have to fight to stay human do we realize how precious it is to us, how dear."

No, it's not someone who is observing people texting, it's a scene from Invasion of the Body Snatchers.... from 1956! Hmmm, maybe "they're here already! You're next! You're next, You're next...!"

We are both refugees from Philadelphia. Nice to meet you. Stop by my page, get to know me a little, before I make a friend request. Thanks.

So floaty and happy! Finished my first rehearsal of Machine at The Crucible... I get to dance, eat fire and bang re-bar pieces in percussive accompaniment. in no way will this suck, unless of course i fall off the scaffolding that i have to climb during the show or i actually breathe in the fire instead of extinguishing it.
