I've found my topiary self for 2005. Thank you Su for the suggestion of Bugs Bunny.
I am a rooster and this is my year. I've decided that 2005 will not only be my feather and crowing type year, but also the year when I celebrate the Trickster in me.

I'm emerging from the holiday season grouchy, many pounds heavier, unthinking and mostly numb.
I'm like a topiary left to grow any which way it wants. What should I become? Manicured giraffes are highly overrated.

Thank you! I hope this will be a good year for all of us - and I think it just might. Cheers!
Having worked in a call centre for four years next month, I'm familiar with the weird twisted world of phonebased customer service. Today I'm getting to be on the user end of telephone customer service. *sigh* I'm rushing off to work, after an hour on the phone with various departments.
I hope you all have a New Year full of promise and fulfillment.

Today was so lovely and warm (read minus 8 celsius, 18 fahrenheit), that when I went out in a tshirt, sweatpants and rubber flipflops to throw out my garbage and recycling, I stood there for several minutes in the snow, basking in the warmth.
I had a fun day yesterday. I played my pen and paper game at my gm's place. My friend's character bit...

Thanks.
Uh, so you go on strike for a day or two, then go back to work, then go back on strike, then... I assume it's some sort of agreement to work under the old contract until the new one is completed. Down here, I think those are usually extended for a set period of time with no option for striking again until the end of the extension period. Or is that what you are up against?
I might have something.

So last night I had my mom, sister and my sister's boyfriend over to play games. We each brought treats and laid out a huge buffet: roast chicken, three kinds of perogies, homemade cabbage rolls, sweet and sour meatballs, cheeses, crackers, homemade coleslaw, roast pickled red peppers, pickled artichokes, kalamata olives, spinach dip, different breads, coconut shrimp, regular shrimp, cooked shrimp, crab, garlic sausage, turkey...

Last night I dreamed about a dream within a dream, and not my dream, but my sister's. She dreamed of an institutional bathroom, with big porcelain sinks and white tiles. She dreamed that she walked up to a mirror and look down inside and saw a person and child, looking alarmed. The child was choking. My dead father was in my dream, helping me figure...

Merry Christmas!
It's almost Winter Solstice. Somebody's gotta be doing something. I was pondering going to this big raveup at my favourite local live bands bar. It says come in costume which got my little mind going on what a suitable costume would be.
Unfortunately, as I'm broke (having spent tons of cash on cds and software and such) I'm planning something solo. Maybe I'll go roll...

Thanks for the support -- it all went just fine
Cheap & easy is good, like boardgames! You should go to the bar naked but tape all the cds & software to you!
During Hannukah Im like a lakte maniac. That's pretty much it.
Y~!

I could do without the stress of figuring out what to buy everyone and the ungodly crowds of mean people. Every time that I work on a Christmas Eve I make the mistake of thinking, "at least people will be more polite and less bitchy". Nope.
I chortled and smiled at all of your suggestions. I really liked Su's. I decided to go with Swoo and Akira, in a way: I chose a beautiful woman's name who just happens to be a character played by Jodie Foster in an Oscar winning movie.
I chose Clarice.
Resourceful, tough and scrappy, I hope my dear beloved Clarice serves me well. She...

my laptop's name is Karen. which was the name of my last laptop too. I named it after a friend of mine--and theres a not so interesting story that goes along with that, so I'll leave it be.

Ok as my computer has just arrived, I need some help. You probably remember my old computer was named "Rosie" after the Jetsons' robotic maid. I require a name for my grand new system. Any suggestions?

"a mouse stuffed with frozen juice"? Thanks for the Veda Hille link. Been playing catch-up with your journal, and also have to thank you for all of the insightful info you've been sharing.
Had to go back and read...I was a little confused about why you'd be buying a baby blank cds. But it's all clear now. And it's a lesson that I shouldn't stray from your journal for so long!
So, what's the strike about?

She's a very creative person. Whenever we hang out we always start creating something, if it's a photo or drawing. And I love that. Why it could never work out. I made the mistake of telling her how I feel in a drunkin voicemail. No women wants to hear your true feelings about them until they've said how they feel first. Stupid but true.
I asked my father,
I said, "Father change my name."

oh, how i wish for that very same person. my longing to mate lovingly has outpaced my urge to mate ferociously - now, may this determination last!!
ok, lmao at the diabolical blueprint blanket. that may be the best thing i've heard ... well, basically ever. i love it. marlin brains all around! i especially love it because my sister's swim team as a child was called the blue marlins, and i love the idea of a troupe of child zombie swimmers going around and feasting on the brains of unsuspecting summer sunners. hee.
sending you much sympathy, and support, for your picketness. hopefully things will warm up - at least from the communication perspective - soon.
