It's almost Winter Solstice. Somebody's gotta be doing something. I was pondering going to this big raveup at my favourite local live bands bar. It says come in costume which got my little mind going on what a suitable costume would be.
Unfortunately, as I'm broke (having spent tons of cash on cds and software and such) I'm planning something solo. Maybe I'll go roll around naked in the snow, then come inside and dance around naked in my apartment. I'm sure the neighbours will love that. *grin*
Seriously though, this time of year needs some major reclaiming. It's come to represent Nasty Time of Crowds and Bills and Grouchy People to me. I think this year I'm going to establish a few solitary personal traditions of introspection, appreciation of nature and calmness. Candles will be burned. Long cold winter walks over crunchy snow will be taken. Tea will be brewed and drank in honour of the season.
Some of my family are Christian, but they don't believe in the commercial side of Christmas, so I may be hanging with them a little and just playing board games and talking. That should be fun.
What parts of this time of year could you do without? What are the Solstice/Christmas/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah/Winter traditions which you treasure?

Cheap & easy is good, like boardgames! You should go to the bar naked but tape all the cds & software to you!
During Hannukah Im like a lakte maniac. That's pretty much it.
