Hey there... yessir I live alone in a one-bedroom flat, 1/4 of a prewar-era 4-plex. And I mean quite possibly pre-WWI. In fact it's so old, and some of the walls have such strange angles that I suspect it might have started out as a normal house. And I do love it... sprawling hardwoods, big windows and lots of sunlight, great neighborhood, covered parking, no insect or rat infestations. The only thing that sucks is that the walls are so thin between me and the other 1st floor unit that sometimes it sounds as if we're in the same room (another hint that this place didn't start out as a 4-plex). But... do I have any plans to move? Nope.
