sweet! you saw the eclipse too. i saw it last night. through some trees but still awesome. i was in carrboro for my sis' baby shower, which was great and she's all stocked up now.
my dad works at nasa so for me i've been lucky enough to have him explaining mad science so i can understand. he works in education now, but he has a masters (almost a phd but he didn't finish his thesis junk) he makes rockin educational websites, but they're mostly about fluid dynamics (which includes aerodynamics). though with the whole "moon and mars" crusade he's been up to more astronomy lately.
but this bad astronomer guy looks sweet. i might send the link to my dad and see if he knows him or knows of him. good stuff!

which is part of the reason it quite often takes me forever and year to get back to people. but i think in a way it's also why people leave me around even though i'm inconsistent. because they know i will be around when i can, and i will actually listen and comment back. everyone has their own style and this is mine. and even if makes me little miss behinder i think it's a blast and i'll keep doing it.

A few years ago I watched the remake of On The Beach and it really hit home. It's a very powerful movie about what would happen if nuclear war broke out, then was over, but the radiation clouds contaminated the entire world, causing our extinction. It would be a shame. I have to say, I'm glad I'm not going to live beyond, say, 80, because I don't have much hope for us as a species, and do believe we will destroy this planet, or at least all human life, and I don't want to be around for that. At least the cockroaches will take over eventually.

Well said, that's a really good point. When I've felt the most rage, the things I've been raging at had already happened and I couldn't do much to change them. Which just made the feeling worse.
For me, I think I have to mix ranting with the more zen, calm approach. I will rant somewhere where I don't publish it, or with a friend. And then respond to the actual cause of my rage in a well-reasoned, thoughtful way.
